How quick are you? 6 Prometheus for $139 each on eBay.
« on: March 13, 2004, 08:54:57 PM »
I have listed 6 Prometheus boards on eBay. Are you quick enough to get one before they are gone? That is $36 off the already newly reduced retail!

Why? Why not, call it market research:-D

It's all in the numbers. This is still a big drop in the price. :-)

I just checked Anachronism Prometheus website. You wrote there:

'With "Prometheus" and the updated drivers available at this website, you can connect to your Amiga an high performance graphics card, a good quality sound card and a fast network card.'

and

'Real transfer rates between PCI cards - up to 120 MB/s'.

Where are these drivers for 'good quality sound card'?
Where are working drivers for the Fast Ethernet card?

Don't you know that since three years the only working drivers for Promethus are drivers for Graphic and 10Mbps Ethernet cards?

Don't you know that due to the bug in hardware the Prometheus busmastering still does not work correctly?

Another few questions.

How come the transfer speed is only 120MBps as opposed to the normal 133MBps of PCI.

Do you support the 8139 series or Realtek cards yet as they are one of (if not THE) cheapest and most common 10/100Mb cards around.

Good question. I'll see if I can't get the answer for this.

The RTL8029 (10Mb) is best current ethernet driver. There is an OpenPCI RTL8139 driver but it is incomplete and unstable. I hope to change this soon, RTL8139 SHOULD be the next stable driver in the near future.

@tjaoz,

I don't know what your history -- hence your personal problem -- is with Matay but be careful here.  I don't personally care what your history (or problem) is with Matay, but I would much rather you take these type things to e-mail or PM, since your current accusations have zero to do with the actual thread (outside of the word Prometheus).

In this particular case however, I'm going to let your comment slide, but you need to draw a thick line between Matay -- whose history you're constantly wanting to slander (for unknown personal reasons) -- and Anachronism Industries (Redrumloa).

As I understand it, Redrumloa's company simply bought out the remaining stock from Matay, so that company has absolutely nothing to do with the history behind the Prometheus, or whether or not any boards were "paid for" or any of the other libelous content you've been slinging lately.

In truth, please accept it this way.  Jim's company bought out the remaining stock of a product, thereby taking Matay completely out of the picture.  Anachronism's intent is seemingly to sell the rest of them (much as that company does with other Amiga products -- not to mention Redrum's personal Amiga ebay auctions).  This is EXACTLY what a business does, and why it's called a business and not a hobby...

Matay's history in this case is FACTUALLY IRRELEVANT as he is out of the picture...

Now, if the guy behind Matay owes you money or something, take it up with Matay, but please stop jumping into public threads and trying to slander Redrum and Anachronism Industries simply because you have either a personal, or professional grudge against the history of the Prometheus and Matay.

Consider this our second formal request.  There will be no more.

Well said Wayne.  Let's give the new owners time to realize an improvement in the product.  This is an execellent price and if they can sort the drivers, then it will likely wind up in my A3000.  I'll keep an eye on this.

Well, I agree.  If there are no sound card drivers, or working fast ethernet drivers then it should not be mentioned on the "new owners" website.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
