I hate to spoil the discussion, but I doubt that 100 MHz would be possible on an existing accelerator. You allway have to see that the rest of the board has to cope with the higher clock, especially the RAM.

Oh and I have looked up the site of the producer of the CT60. I looks like the Atari too had it`s "BoXeR" that got filed `cos the people who were to write the needed software got bored and went away.
This board was even meant to take two 68060

Not really interesting, but it`s there.

You are correct about the lack of drivers, Framiga...

However ...  I used to title on a lowly A500  using a Scala coverdisk !!  Upgrading to an A1200, I used infochannel to title for years.

Editing was done with KRP's Edit-Plug.  Once again,  a high powered amiga was not absolutely necessary.

I also used Vidi 24rt  although I admit,  The 060 was a major boost to productivity with this and Vistapro.

Hi The_Editor

onestly, i haven't understood your reply.

I'm since 1986 a video/film editor and i'm still using Amiga. (from A1000 to A4000)

I said that all those thing, aren't possible with AOne and Pegasos ATM due lacks of professional video output/gears/drivers.

Ciao

Simple, I plan to get a new PPC machine but I plan to still use my Classic.

Hey, maybe that guy who is doing the Coldfire accelerator boards could do an 060 version.  :-o

Ok here is the burning question. Where does one buy quantity 060s at a decent price? Motorola lists per 1000 which isn't going to happen :-o

brand new (latest mask) the cheapest I found was
about 300.00.

You can try here. They sell some cool looking single board computers based on motorola CPUs.  I've wanted to get one just to see what I could do with it, but think it would be a wast for someone that just like cool toys!

The producer of the CT60 told me, if you want just one of the 68060 with the right Mask it will cost you around 600 $ each !!
If you buy them in masses you could go down to 50-100$ each. That would probably mean a few thousand of them.
He said that he got really lucky getting just 24 of them at a decent price.
100 MHz will also involve watercooling (remeber it`s overclocked by 100%)
Have a look at this page were you can see such a setup for a Falcon with the CT60 installed (scroll down)

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/didierm/falcon-e.htm

We are far better off waiting for the coldfireproject to get finished. Although the Coldfire lacks an FPU is will be fast enough that it will still beat an 68060 by far.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

Would be interesting to hear what you base this on.

I don't agree.

Hi Lemmink

those price is a little overpriced IMHO.

From Motorola site for the XC68060RC50C
(E41J mask that is a shrink of the G65V mask set):

"Sample Availability

Samples are available under part number XC68060RC50C. Samples will be limited to 10 Per Customer. To order samples, please contact your local Motorola Sales Office"

PS- sometimes to read all the previous posts, could be useful :-)

They have on theyr site catalog, the MC68060 at 189,00 EUR (not sure on availability)

Vesalia sells 68060 at 89 EUR but . . . i doubt  full MMU/FPU model (contact them by mail before).

I've just contacted them and they had reply me very quickly . . . :-)
