Where David Pleasance these days. He had his heart with the Amiga and even today could do more with it in a month that Bill has in years.

Agreed. I doubt even Mehdi Ali could stuff things up so badly.

Do we get to fire live ammo at McBill? That would be too cool.

I've been practising Schoolyard Slaughter in anticipation... :-)

This would seem to rule out Amino, I doubt they have any of these 3 things :-)

The only question I had that was rude was about his health..yea that was the only personal attack.  As for the rest of my questions that were moderated (lol..a moderator getting moderated), dont be scared.. ask the real questions..not the politically correct questions.

Why the secrecy??  Are you in hiding?  How come Bill Buck has a blog and freely speaks/answers questions when asked?  Hell I can call Bill Buck right now (yea I have his cell #) and talk shop.  No I'm not in his pocket, I just think is a good thing on his part to answer questions and be open about things.

Come on over Bill McEwen and register on Amiga.org.  Dont limit it to 20 questions with 20 politician type answers.  Tell it like it is and dont sugar coat it.

@Thread

Pretty close poll so far. Fall out from either a 'yes' or 'no' final vote should be interesting.

I can't belive how "childish" a-inc is. Insisitng they will release OS5 with out any schedule! Not being capable of releasing OS4.  Then making a deal with the city of kent.... it's a joke, it's all smoke and mirrors.

I agree if Bill Mcewen wants to answer questions he can join a-org anytime... or better yet get (and pay for) a press conference to make Classic Amiga anouncemets.  I'm pretty sure nobody here cares about the DE/amigaanywhere junck they call amiga.

There really is no need for 20 more questions. Amiga Inc. is a joke, Bill McEwen has a very low standing in this community. By asking him 20 questions it simply serves to stoke his ego and keep the illusion of Amiga Inc. alive...

It is time to forget about this person and his company. I imagine he finds a great sense of self worth simply by being mentioned on Amiga fora... if we ignore him he will go away.

-Edit1- AOS4 is considered "Classic" by Amiga Inc.

-Edit2- Amiga Inc. have never, in anyway supported AROS. They even made demands that anonymous access to the source code repository was removed... quite why, I'll never understand...

by Wayne on 2007/4/20 13:28:33

Interestingly, I just got an e-mail from Bill suggesting that he's "ready to do another 20 questions any time we are".

So, if there is interest, let me know and we'll fire away.

Wayne

Here's my suggestions (please excuse me if they've already been asked.  I'm too lazy to read all 64 posts)

1) What are Amiga Inc's plans for the future of desktop Amiga OS?

2) Can you confirm/deny rumours that certain hardware products (SAM board, troiks, etc) are being held up because you refuse to give them a license to port OS4?

3) How do you feel about the possibility of OS4 on the PS3?

They've never directly opposed it either. I wonder what might happen if that attitude changes.

Nothing, since they own nothing involved in the AROS project.

You know better than that. How many times have decisions been made based on who has the better lawyers opposed to who's wrong or right? Besides AROS uses A.Inc's trade mark in their name, or did you forget? "Amiga Research Operating System". Hopefully Amiga Inc will continue with their benevolent attitude.

Here are 5 questions:

- Tell us about the current situation regarding Amiga OS4. Note, that was not even a question :)
- How many companies will get a license from Amiga Inc. to sell HW for OS4 this year?
- Will it be possible to run OS4 applications under OS5?
- When can we expect to see or test a OS5 beta release?
- Will Hyperion continue to be a key partner for developing parts of the future OS:es?
- Do you thing Amiga OS4 will be available for PS3 in a near future?

I'm very surprised by the attitude of A.Org in respect of this topic.  I agree maybe the personal attacks on Bill are out of line (a little) and a little moderation should be applied.

But for Wayne to suggest this not be open for debate? Come on.

I see a number of you claiming that Bill is actually a nice guy.  That he may be - no-one is saying he isn't.

I work in senior managerial circles and I know a number of men and women, nice or not, being removed from their positions because they couldn't hack it.

If he can't do the job, then he needs to be removed.

....and he hasn't been "capable" of his role since he owned the company.

Just call it AROS then, the letters don't have to stand for anything ;)

My question is:
Will the SAM be given an OS4 license? Answer yes or no, nothing else!

A inc couldn't afford the lawyer needed to sue over one hundred people in at least 10 different countries, which is what they would have to do to shut down the project. Also they woud look pretty stupid bringing a law suit against an Open Source project which uses nothing they own... look what happened to SCO... and they "might" have had a case...

How vital is the word "Amiga" to the functioning of AROS?

Not very, I could go through the whole AROS source and change the word Amiga to AROS (AROS Research Operating System) and AROS would work fine.
