"the auction said it was running a while ago but he has no way to test it now, i would bid on it."

exactly the same "standard" reply a got when i purchased my first CSPPC.

"yeah! it worked last time i checked!" pity that was 2 ywars before.

Superfluous to say thats mine lasts 2 weeks or so :-( (received with the PPC fan broken, hence....)

Edit- ah obviously i hope for the buyer that is full working but if it isn't and/or it works only sometimes (intermittent boot and so) my suggestion is don't use it in that state, Try to fix it or send it for repair (even if its the 060 socket badly soldered).

Using it in that state, will lands in problems for the PPC as well

I spoke with the seller of my CSPPC before bidding. When I got the card installed the system wouldn't boot, after over 1 1/2 hours of trying different things it finally booted, but after a little while I tried restarting the system to no aval. After a month of (Oh my GOD I just blowed $600 buck, Some guys here told me they had the same problem and to check my 68060 socket, with a small flat head scew driver I pride one side of the 060 up a little then pressed it back in and whamO! It has work everytime since! (Lucky? Probly) But its the chance you must take with older hardware.. And I'm not afraid of a little soildering either, having some electronics background is a real plus with older Computer E.Q. lucky the Amiga is quite forgiving! I have done many things to my 1000 and 3000 that would have fried my PC's!

Then again, maybe the dude doesn't really want it to sell but is trying to apease his wife ;-)

Just kidding on that one.  My wife thinks that what I have invested in the Miggies I own is insane and I can't say that I have even broken the $1000 (USD) mark yet.

I think between my 2 A1200's and my A4000 parts, I have invested around $650 USD -- This includes the monitor I bought which is just an old 1084S with sound non-functioning.

So in actual computers, around $600 USD all total.  I think I have paid fair pricing for everything so far.  And though I wouldn't personally spend that much (mainly cause I don't have it), I know it looks about par for the course.

Just my two cents there :-)

Mac and PC hardware can be found free in my neighborhood every Sunday and Wednesday: Trash day.  I find can working PCs on the curb all the time -- computers that originally cost $1000+, probably more.  Conversely, the guy who bought that Amiga accelerator for approx. the same amount of money didn't lose a penny because it, unlike PC or Mac hardware, retains its value.  Who's the fool?
Primary:
A4000T. Phase5 PPC604e-233mhz/060-66mhz. Mediator, Z3 Fastlane, Voodoo5, Delfina, X-Surf, AD516, Peggy Plus.

Collection:

yes it expensive for old hardware, but it hard to find this stuff, you can't just order it.  I think that prices fot this classic stuff will get higher....as more and more old system simply disapear. It will be a long lul but in 20 30 years people will spend BIG bucks on this stuff. Think its hard to fins an SX-1 now..... just you wait.
