err, no, it's not. I saw a BPPC/060 go for £330 recently. Bvisions sell for around £70. So that's £400 before you even have a tower case (elbox sell those for £150), keyboard interface (another £30), A1200 motherboard, harddrive, etc. Plus, you always pay a slight premium on eBay for "Buy It Now" items, so £550 may seem expensive to you and I but in reality that's around the price you should expect to pay if you want those rare retro items from eBay.

Prices have sky rocketed for Amiga PPC h/w recently simply due to high demand and extremly low supply. That's the way free-markets work. No point whinging about it.

That's right.
I got a quite similar configuration 2 years ago just for the third because there was no such demand.

Yep, Blizzard-PPC doesn`t come cheap.  People will pay that much for them, if they want one.  I seen a card go on ebay for 900 euro.  It would be good to have these cards re-produced today at a low cost.

It's a fair price, 2000 DEM, a regular PC doesn't have the 68060 power, plus the PPC (if it works). It's a beast, it's only that it's really ugly in that case.

Everything else is mindless, and nowadays just aren't 1000$ per A1200 with a 68060 days.

Uhm, naaah...  I think it is a pretty fair price.

I would have liked to see some Mediator included, though, because I would see that as an essential upgrade if I bought that set (if it would have been included I would have considered bidding, that is the only reason for me even mentioning it).

Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

I paid roughly £430 for a Cyberstorm PPC/233 + 060/50 and a CyberVision PPC combined, which was pretty decent. They're not that easy to find.

Though it has to be said, they are worth every penny to me. :-) I really enjoy using my Amiga with these upgrades.

That's unbelievable.  The worst part is there's a chance someone may pay it - I've seen some crazy prices on Amiga stuff, generally between 10 to 50 times what you'd pay for the same hardware for a Mac or PC.

That doesn't mean its priced right.  Its old hardware and if people are silly enough to pay that, more fool them.

Another silly ebay buy it now

Expensive, yes, but unbelievable? I don't know. PPC cards have always gone for silly money. The important thing to remember is that something is only worth what someone will pay for it. As long as people are prepared to pay lots of money for Amiga stuff, it'll continue to sell for lots of money.

Personally, I've payed a lot of money on Amiga stuff, but I don't mind. Its only money, and I enjoy using the stuff I've bought a lot.

It's not a bad price for a whole system... I just paid £250 for a BPPC at 233MHz... Only got an 040 though.. but that's OK :) I got an 060 A4000 if I wanna play classic games :)

Edit: Typo
Back to action!

I'd have to agree, that is a fair price, hopefully it won't go too much higher!!

It seems steep, only because for US$800, you could get a better equiped Mac or even a winclone if you so desired.

So for what it is, yes- it is a good deal!
