This is how my A1G4XE-system will be at the end:
« on: January 25, 2003, 02:19:46 PM »
Ok...time for a new thread. Now that i got most of the parts to build my own A1G4XE, then i think i could bring them up here. Ok, here we go:

800Mhz AmigaOne G4-XE mobo (on the way..)
1GB SDRAM DIMMs (2 parts Apacer 133Mhz Buf. Reg. ECC-type)
Black Chieftech Dragon MIDI-Tower w/360W PSU + 4 Cooler-fans..
Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort/Optical MouseMan
Black internal 1.44HD Floppy
Black internal Samsung 16x/48x DVD-ROM EIDE/ATAPI (On the way..)
Black internal Samsung 40x/12x/40x CDRW EIDE/ATAPI
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9100 128MB DDR AGP (on the way..)
TerraTec 512i Digital PCI-soundcard (on the way)

I have the SoundBlaster Live Digital 5.1, but i will rather use the TerraTec for music-creation, and soon to order two large Western Digital Harddrives at 120GB each...!!!

 :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-)  :-)  8-)  8-)  8-)  :-o  ;-)

Not bad.. I like that Chiftec dragon series a lot. I'm having my current PC (1800+ athlon) on black one. So I need to select another color if/when I purchase something new.

I hope those Apacer's do indeed work. These Articia based mobos are affully sensitive to memories.

One thing missing from your list.. 20" (true visible ares) LCD with 1600*1200 Resolution, inputs fow DVI, AnalogVGA, Svhs and normal Video .. And it's with black frames too  :-D  :-D  :-D

Sure hope that mem works ok for ya.
Will the A1G4XE be as troublesome memory wise as the SE?

Sounds like a really nice set-up Helgis75

Thank, buddy :-)  I'll have it in my mind...Yes, must be careful about the memory-issue, but i know that Articia S supports server-type DIMMS (that would mean 133Mhz Buffered Registered ECC-type, which is the case with mine..)

I don't think it will be noisy with 4 cooler-fans. It just allows my system to cool down any possible heat...Not even becoming warm!!! :-)  :-)  :-)  :-D  :-D

Thats good in summer but come winter and your very cold, you could save a fortune on heating bills, i know my old 040 without a fan did just that ;-)

It WILL be noisy. But the benefit is that you will notice the quiet that much more when you switch it off.
Hate figure.

Ok, so the only Cooler-fan i need to use, is the one on the CPU, right?

Yup, FAR too many fans than needed! Noisy noisy!  ;-)

@Joanna

Yummy! I`d like to get my hands on that monitor...sadly I don`t think I`d be able to afford one! :-o

Maybe it may be noisy, but it may be better to prevent heating in the tower, and good cooling in the tower is the most important issue...Also be aware that harddrives can get warm, too...So..

I rather may have the best cooling-system than a hot tower.... :-D

This is getting confusing, so is the fan on the CPU the only necessary one? Please tell me..

That is the only one you *need* per se but it doesn't
hurt having extra ventilation esp if you put other
hot running boards in there ( gfx cards for example )

It is a shame that we are now so far removed from the quiet computer - like the Spectrum, Sam Coupe, Amiga500 etc.

Hard drive noise, fan noise and CPU fan noise are
all doing their bit to make the computer the noise generating monstrousity of our age.
Hate figure.

I really have to be very careful about that, but in case, i do have all the 4 cooler-fans..

I will see what kind of cooler-fan there is on the CPU of the A1G4XE, if delivered with...It has to have an ideal cooler-fan on the CPU...

No, in general its mainly the CPU that generates the most heat, but GFX cards and HD`s under load can also generate a high quantity of heat.

4 fans is a little OTT for the A1 in my opinion, but its your comp so YOU have in it what you want, I`m sure if I open my window I`ll probably hear the whirr from here! ;-)

I'm sure the one on the CPU may be enough..I'll check this out carefully...
