Well spent most of latter end of week on JIT.
I now realise although its working. Its slow due to me working around the x86 code.
So I am now altering code based on allegrex mips assumptions instead of x86.

Started with unified registers. That instantly showed CPU usage drop, so will continue working on it tonight and the weekend, hopefully I can get the speed out of it I have been after.

Well another weekend and still no progress on speed of JIT, :(.
So started porting to Notaz's DYNAREC, just working on making it stable.
Fingers crossed as this is last attempt. Fedup of JIT, stuff now. Been on it since Feb this year.

I have added overclock options to PSPUAE, so you can overclock PSP if you have plugin or using ARK CFW.

Current state of pspuaev2,it now has Normal UAE CPU, FAMCE/C, JIT and DYNAREC all controllable via makefile flags.

Not much to update yet, apart from working on a port of Notaz's DYNAREC from Daedalus64.
Spent last 4 days making its frontend not cost anything in speed before implementing native instructions.
Slow going, but if I get this right, we could have the speed increase we have been missing.

Personally, I would be happy with 50 FPS with 100% cpu usage and skip every third frame.
If we can achieve that on 333MHz, then once overclocked to 400+MHz, you could proberly achieve skip every one frame at 50 FPS.

Fingers crossed.

Just started adding Native instructions. Already hit an 8x decrease in speed, so need to debug that, :(.

Have DYNAREC working, now doing the long winded part.
Getting speed out of it. Going very slowly, :(.

Finally after a week of micro adding native code.
I switched to bulk adding in batches and am now seeing some speed increase. Will continue to add more native code.
Once that's all done, I will then optimise code for speed.

DYNARec seems to be working 100% as it should. So fingers crossed, I can surpass the standard CPU now (unlike JIT, needs a complete rewrite).

Well, looks like both JIT and DYNARec are dead ends in their current form.
Looks like if I want anything concrete and fast, I will have to build my own from ground up. Adapting code causes to much over head and ultimately kills the speed.

I have been working on (for last week) FAME/C cores however and that has given the most speed increase.
So will continue working in that area. I have also added the CPU to CHIPSET equivalent to it and that helps.

I think I'm up to beta 50 or something, lost count. Need to do a proper release soon.

Squeezed all I can out of FAME. Also tweaked sprite recording,  got us another 2% increase, it also helped with floppy loading (causing slow down).

Next, going to try and experiment with using ME for 68k workload help.

Have decided to start from scratch. Currently have a vanilla port, with nothing changed and with basic backends.
Lastnight, I finished my multicpu idea. Now running lots of testing to see if it has actually improved speed.

Currently, have almost the entire emu running on ME CPU, with SC, taking care of the host PSP stuff.
Will re-add all work from old port piece by piece at a later date.

I'm determined to get more speed out of it @333MHz, I would be happy with AGA config on FS=2 or 3.
I will include the overclock option, as some may want to try it.

Currently on beta2 of new port. Using basic backends, I have finished all backend bottlenecks.
Moving on to full source allegrex optimisations. Going slower this time. Benchmarking all updates, to ensure we lose no speed only gain speed.

UAE4ALL2-HD-Vita running on Sony PSP
« Reply #39 on: October 13, 2026, 12:55:31 PM »
Right after a lot of thought and pulling out hair.

E-UAE wip4 is dead end on PSP. Fact is the old 2014 was last release with the fastest speed possible with E-UAE wip3. So forget every version after that (based on old 2014 source), they are early experiments (using ME old way). I will rework old 2014 source with newer features, updated gfx and sound, also fix remaining bugs. I will do that at a later date. Its not all bad, learnt so much over the last 10 months.

I have archived DYNARec and JIT work, as although they work, they have added so much overhead, they are slower.

I have now switched to a different source, that shows a lot of promise from alpha got working yesterday. I will be basing new PSPUAEv2 on that. So uae4all2-HD-Vita is what we will be using from now on.

Only got it booting with basic gfx, sound and input. All my tests stick to 0 Frameskip and basic A500 config. I will also be keeping source clean, so it can still be compiled for other platforms in source, i.e. switch / vita.

Will now, start adding more advanced sound first using ME, then GFX and then fix inputs, as it appears both ports act as joysticks. After that, will start optimising for Allegrex MIPS. All code will be gated under _PSP_, if it effects main core emulation code.
