CVPPC & PIV at the same time, possible?
« on: March 26, 2004, 01:11:22 AM »
Hi!! I'd like to know if it's possible to use a CyberVisionPPC and a PIV graphics board on the same machine at the same time.. being that one of them is connected to the CSPPC local bus and the other one is Zorro... could it only be a software problem? (Assuming P96 and CGFX can not live together)...

Suggestions, experiences please :-)

Cheers

There is a rather excellent PicassoIV driver for GybergraphX...yes, easily possible. I think the driver does not support all functions of the PIV - for example I had a Paloma TV in module, non of the TV stuff worked under CGX but I suspect I was in a minority with this hardware :-)

As far as I know P96 does not support CVPPC.

OS4 will support Permedia2 so you'll be able to use both cards

I was using even CV3D with those two, what a mess with the different screenmodes...
The biggest problem was stupid programs that opened the first RTG screen they could find -  I think alphabetically as CV3D was then used and PIV or CVPPC were much preferred by me.
So I finally took CV3D off and stayed with those two until I got Prometheus/Voodoo3. Then I had 3 again but only 2 usable at the same time because of the sw support. I still have alternate boot partitions with P96 and CGX4 respective.

have you tryed to install NewMode?

With NewMode, you can choose the screen-card mode you wish.

I have used ModePro for years but by default I don't use it anymore as
some programs don't like it -  WHDLoad pops to my mind first.
