A1200NG Teething Issues.
« on: July 26, 2025, 06:44:50 PM »
Good Afternoon,

New user to the A1200NG, I do think its a great product, but a few teething issues.

Firstly I ordered the CPU Boost Kit, because well why not. But I am not sure what this is supposed to physically include, or how to check this. As as far as I can tell nothing extra received.
Secondly, Is there any shortcut way to the A1200NG menu, I tried hunting through the manual and can only assume either there is not one, or I am blind.
Thirdly and possibly most frustrating, I seem unable to regsiter the A1200NG, I have registered myself as a user, and navigated to the "Register Product" page, but selecting the "Register A1200NG" option (which seems to then pre-fill a non-editable text box), the button below then reads "Register This{}" and when pressed I get the Error Invalid Serial Code. Basically meaning I cant seem to update the firmware.

Can anyone help, happy to provide more information if required.

Thanks
AV

About your problems with registering : https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=76574.0

About the CPU Boost Kit, according to amiga kit.com :

Quote
The kit includes:

 Heat sink
 thermal pads
 4x Bolts
Serial key code to activate software
white or black vented bottom trapdoor

Aaaaaand about the "menu" : Which one, normally you can press F12 while in Emulation to get there ...

Thanks for the link about registration I will take a look.

The Menu is the main A1200NG menu, that you get from a cold boot.

So it seems I have been "Swindled" on the CPU upgrade, as I am pretty sure I did not get any of that!  ;D
Well I have already put in an email to AmigaKit on that point, we will wait and see what they say I guess.

You have to quit out of emulation for that, so F12 -> QUIT is the way to go :) AFAIK that menu is not accessible while in emulation ...

As SACC-Guy said. If you bought with Overclock, it will be attached.
Once registered, Overclock will auto activate when running anything amiga related.

I think everything has been sorted now, although due to my abysmal memory I now have to take my A1200 apart again to confirm before switching on the overclocking  ;D.
