Amiga repair / service houses any left ?
« on: March 19, 2004, 08:04:16 PM »
Was about to send a broken Apollo board I got from eBay to eyetech but they said they can't help.

What places are still there to support us?
Also, let's make a list for the future for anyone who might need it, like me now

Hell if I was AINc, I'd have complied a list of all companies supporting the Amiga in any capacity by now.

The lure of free publicity would do the market the world of good.

But hey, I guess ideas like this disappear when you have to spend most of your time selling your only major asset (the OS) !! :-(  :-(

testing is free, and he'll give you a quote on it if he can fix it. But don't expect it to be super-cheap. He accepts PayPal, which is nice.
E-mail him, and ask for a price-qoute perhaps first.

If it helps, I do component level Amiga repairs from around New Zealand, and a few international ones.

Freight price make this a bad option, but sending faulty motherboards only (no heavy case) makes it more reasonoble.

Labour and parts prices tend to average around 75 Euros, not including return freight.

I don't do any detailed work to 3rd party equipment, like Phase5 stuff, Apollo boards, etc, due to having no service information and no access to parts.  Many of these boards use programmable custom logic devices, the contents is secret to the manufacturer.

But otherwise I'd highly recommend Jean-Jacques from amiga.fr (I think he's Voxel on Amiga.org)

Thanks all for replies.

If someone has some more you know please don't hesitate to post, so that others know...there seem to be few places left.

Hoya!

@Jose

Try the Links section because, IIRC, there are some other French shops which offer Amiga repairs. :-)

@Castellen :-)

Q> I'd highly recommend Jean-Jacques from amiga.fr (I think he's Voxel on Amiga.org)

Yes you're right, JJ is a very good technician with an enormous Commodore/Amiga/Third party Amiga repairs background :-)

He makes honest prices and quoting is free. :-)

BTW, he's not me :lol: He's one of my best friend in the Amiga Land since the early years of our beloved Amigas.

BTW II, I was at a time Approved Amiga Repair Service for Commodore (back in the 90') but have stopped since 1998 when I closed my own company :bigcry: as many of the Amiga only dealers in France :cry:

But I never ceased to use my Amigas, and try to help other Amigans any time I can on the Web :-D so I understand you can have made the join between him and me ;-)

He's the last Amiga Repair Service here in France and he highly deserve our worldwide clientele :-)

Voxel: You may want to use the quote function. Your post makes it sound like you are talking about yourself in the third person and is REALLY confusing  :lol:

@NightShade737 :-)

Q > Voxel: You may want to use the quote function. /Q

Well, I really would want to be able to use all of the function of this site, but unfortunately there's a lot of it that NOT works with my IBrowse Amiga browser ;-) and until it's remedied I'm forced to "Quote" by hand :lol:

Another one that's broken for me : all functions in the post module other than the automatic inclusion of smilleys ;-) and the preview/post button ;-)

I can certify you that JJ and me are TWO real and different persons :-) living at about 2-300 Kilometers from each other :-)

The DoomMaster repairs Amiga and Atari ST hardware.  He does a really good job and does not charge too much.  You can reach him on the Kali Game Server.  He is on almost every day.  His screen-names are:  HGC, Jasper, Fly, or DoomMaster.  I wish he was still here on Amiga Org.     :boohoo:
My favorite TV shows:  Star Trek Voyager, Forever Knight, Stargate SG1, Married with Children, As Time Goes By, Mr. Bean, Smallville, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Xena
