@ Hyperspeed

I was just about to post a warning myself until I read your piece on Analogic.

I ordered an '060 card from them which took ages to arrive, and when it did it didn't work.  Raj at Analogic told me I was getting a 66Mhz model instead of the 50Mhz one I requested as I'd been "very patient".

The card I got was covered in what looked like the remnants of someone's breakfast and wasin poor condition generally.  No suprise then it didn't work.

I had to pay P&P to get the card returned to Analogic, who then sent it back...  Guess what?

I ordered a FULL '060 with MMU and FPU.  What I got was the EC version.  Raj even had the audacity to try and tell me that Motorola badged some '060s as EC chips even though they were actually the full monty units.

At this point I lost it, and demanded a refund, citing the Trades Descriptions Act.  Guess what?  They couldn't give a damn.  I eventually got my money back, but I had to pay for P & P again....

I've heard several horror stories about Analogic.

The sooner these muppetts go out of business, the better.

I'll plug Raymond Computer in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA for a repair center.  I've done a lot of business with him (Ray Bryan).  Their web site is Raymond Computer.  Some of it may be old/out-of-date, but they are still around.  I Email with Ray pretty much on a weekly basis.  I used to live in his area, so I could actually go to his store (yep, a real Amiga storefront still exists!) every weekend if I wanted.

Well it's nice to know others have experienced what Analogic are like.
I've ordered stuff from every Amiga company that advertised in Amiga
Format but never have I encountered a company (or even PEOPLE) like
those at Analogic.

It was like talking to a brick wall, honestly I couldn't get it
through to them that I paid £49.99 to get my A1200 repaired and they
hadn't repaired it!

Why did Wizard Developments (now Compute!) fix it within 3 days? They
were professional and even gave me a diagnostic sheet explaining it
was the blue array on the Video-DAC that had gone.

Analogic made up all sorts of excuses because they didn't have the
expertise to isolate an Amiga specific fault.

When I attended World of Amiga 1998 at the Novatel exhibition centre I
felt like getting up on the table and shouting out across the hall
"AVOID ANALOGIC!" they had the audacity to continue trading where
there was money and stuff people who'd already paid for a repair.

As you can see from the other posts they have provided bad service AND
bad equipment. A slapdash company if ever there was one.

8/9 years later they are still in business, advertising memory on
Google. I am still £50 out of pocket and my Amiga still has the scars
of their incompetance.

Keep your posts coming folks!

It would be interesting if someone from Analogic posted here to defend his company's actions, or at least provide a suitable explaination to their ex customers.

Like it or not, the Amiga market is shrinking and eventually Analogic will upset one too many people and word will spread.

Anyway, if you're in the UK and have a broken Amiga (like me) then think VERY carefully before sending it to Analogic for repairs.

If you work for Analogic and are reading this, then perhaps you could give your side of the story.

I'd say their first port of call would be to get this thread removed
at all costs. They wouldn't respond to our complaints because right
now they're a little too convincing.

If it had been Eyetech or someone I think we'd have been offered a
refund right away, but with a professional company like that we
wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

Did I mention I spent £10 on the phone to Analogic back in '95/96 just
trying to find out where my Amiga was? I was in the middle of
important exam work and they really messed up.

I went to the Citizens Advice Bureau and got tonnes of leaflets on The
Small Claims Court but in the end my exams had to take priority and I
never did get answers from Analogic.

If phonecalls, letters, threats and personal visits don't get a
response from the manager to his loyal customers then I doubt
he'dbother responding to a handful of people moaning on a website.

Analogic in my honest opinion works by Anal-Logic.

Hi,

may i recall DCE too?

They are still in business, altough they have STOLEN, hundreds of cards. (6000 Euro only to a resseler here in Italy)

BTW . . . they are the same ones that are manufacturing Pegasos ATM.

Bye

What's up with DCE of Germany anyway?

I remember them making excellent products like the SX32-Pro for the
Amiga CD32 console. They also made my DCE SCSI-IV kit v8.5...

As I understand it a lot of people got problems with their Cyberstorm
68k and PPC cards and sent them back but there has been very little
communication from them.

Do you think they ran out of components and can't offer a refund or
they'll go bankrupt?

If they are manufacturing the Pegasos and still have peoples'
Cyberstorms then this is totally out of order.

I've seen elsewhere a very popular thread urging a Class Action
Lawsuit to be put forward, I'm surprised a high profile electronics
company hasn't got a PR representiave surfing the web to put problems
right.

:-(

Let's name and shame 'em all!
