SysSpeed, Scout, WhichAmiga, plenty of other things. Just about anything other than SysInfo, lol. ;)

I'm sure whoever built the system included a few of these tools, already. I'd fire it up and check what's installed already. There's gotta be something. :)

Great thanks Zipper & Mike. Yes tried SysInfo before, but wasn't much help other than showing how much more powerful it is vs an A600! Also WhichAmiga didn't show the PPC for some reason.

There weren't any PPC tools installed so I installed WarpOS and looks like everything is working great! The showcase demo is nice and smooth, and PPC clock speed is showing 180MHz :)

Yes. This is pretty much the 'holy grail' for people who want to obtain a classic Amiga. I would love one as would most Amiga fans. Good luck to the bidders on this. I thought about bidding but that's a hard sell to the wife haha. Besides, I'd just use to to play games and I can do that on my existing machine.

If I had to spend the cash on this or an X5000 I would choose this any day of the week. It will hold its value should I ever want to sell it down the road. It is the flagship of a classic computer range.  The X5000 is just a PPC-based hobby board in a clone PC case.

I just could rationalize it myself, not with a 180 MHz PPC processor.
And I can play all the games just as well in an emulator.

So I'd buy the X5000, hobby board or not, it can run things I can't run on the 4000 or via an emulator.

Very nice system!  I wish I could convince myself that I should get one. I really would Like to have a PPC Amiga, but am actually more interested in the 68k machines anyhow.

Very nice system!  I wish I could convince myself that I should get it.  For those that don't know, and I feel like a dick even mentioning this, but the new Phase 5 PPC boards go for 1500 themselves.  I inquired about them a while back and my reaction was "I could almost buy one of the NG systems for that..." I really would Like to have a PPC Amiga, but am actually more interested in the 68k machines anyhow.

$1500? Ouch.
Have they produced anything yet?

Where are you getting this pricing info from?

Good question, since I haven't seen a photo of a fully populated board yet, let alone something for sale.

So, it may be worth it to some, 60mhz 060, and 400Mhz PPC, so not nothing to scoff at as far as old hardware goes.  I just can't justify the price just so I can run OS4... Not to mention since it's about the same price as a full on machine that won't have the issue with being latched onto decaying hardware... But I guess for those that are really needing/wanting one, there you have it.

The 60MHz '060 is no great shakes, but the improvement in the PPC cpu is noteworthy. More than double the speed of the system being discussed here.
It would go a long way toward making legacy system tolerable for NG OS use.

My CSPPC runs with a Rev 6 060 clocked at 75Mhz and a replacement PPC at 400Mhz as well, but it runs slightly OC at 410. It still doesnt run very well on OS4 due to the RAM limitations. For the money if I was looking to get a system for OS4 I would get an X5000.

For classic OS3.X I wouldnt pass on it if I needed one though, hands down the best Amiga I own.

Difficult to find at a "reasonable" price, sadly.  I have two dead ones over at AmigaKit right now.  They can't fix either of them so I'm working on getting it off to someone else for a try.

Sadly they are nearly impossible to repair if you dont have some very expensive gear. I dont see myself every having the money to get it, or at least justify getting.

You can double that figure again as SysInfo will read the 060 at half its true power. Use SysSpeed for 060 benchmarking.

Stan on AmiBay repairs and upgrades them. Might want to drop him a line. I've got 3 boards he worked on and the work is great. His prices are ok but the cost of shipping there and back are high but not his fault.

I sent my cyberstorm mk1 off to him, but sadly it was far too gone, so he rigged up the 040-060 adapter for me and now I've got that with the 3.9 kickstarts in my system.  I need to figure out where he got that heatsink, so I can get one for my Atari Falcon's CT60e :P
