« on: December 20, 2016, 05:03:17 PM »
I just purchased the new ACA500plus! It went live for preordering today. Shipping to the USA for me was only $131

Wow! Nice upgrade. Looks like there is more going on with the Plus version besides 8MB RAM.

I had the original ACA500 and loved it. Ultimately, I sold it and my A500 in favor of the A1200. I gained more desktop space too.  :D

a 10MHz 68000 overclocked to 42MHz?  Hope it has a heatsink!  ;)

I like the easy install 3.1 option.  That's good for all those people who cry about busted floppy drives or not wanting to purchase new disks.  Nice list of features, overall.  And since (presumably) it will be available from resellers, that should appease the folks who don't want to deal with the Vampire wait-list.  Good price, too.  Just wish it was internal.

Now where's that guy fondpondforever who's always harping on about when will this thing will be available?

I'd much rather have something like this in my CDTV, but I couldnt pass up the price. The CDTV is nearly maxed now, but with the "new" A500+ I will be assembling when it ships out next month it will be a welcomed addition! The current 500 I have is in good shape, but not nearly as nice as the newly manufactured board will be in it!

Oh man, that's tempting... if I wasn't already in the process of fixing/upgrading my A4000D (and CDTV), I'd be all over this!

+1, I'd love to see a new CDTV accelerator myself (not holding my breath, though).

Fair enough, although I'd rather take the "wait-and-see" approach to know that it would work for sure, and that it'd fit in the CDTV case without a lot of effort.

It physically fits mostly, but from what I've seen the case will not go on after its in and you have a CF card installed and HDMI.

Kinda pointless for a CDTV, but this ACA500plus will be amazing in my 500 and give it some life as a nice game system.

These modern 68000s are very good overclockers.  Yaqube's record with the Minimig is just over 56Mhz although not all will go that high.

Is there a plexiglass case available?

Actually, the CMOS 68000s are good overclockers, but why Jens is overclocking a 10MHz component to 14MHz is baffling when there are 20MHz parts (and those overclock as high as 32MHz).

Still, a 68000 is not going to perform anywhere near as well as a 68020 or 68030.

I'm sure he got a large batch of them for a very good price like a ot of the parts he picks. The original ACA500 contains a lot of very old parts that I had a very difficult time sourcing when attempting to repair a couple of them sent to me.

Out of complete curiousity, what kind of problems did the cards sent to you have?

Ditto. My card has been working great since I purchased it. Also have a 1221 (original unlocked 64mb at 30+mhz and around 5mips) hooked to her and am pretty happy with the performance all told.

No real reason for me to go for the ACA500+, but glad it's finally available.

Am using my ACA500 with an original Phoenix mobo in my A1000 w/ 1mb Chip RAM. If the new model provided 2mb of Chip without me dinking around with a new Agnus and memory chips, would have purchased for sure. (I know it's not possible, just saying)

(already have the correct Agnus and RAM now, just can't be bothered to install yet)
