Now..help getting X-Surf 100 & Rapid Road to work
« on: March 22, 2016, 05:19:51 PM »
OK, once again thanks to Thomas for putting me in the right path to continue with the configuration of X-Surf 100 & Rapid Road.

The X-Surf 100 board and Rapid Road are installed inside the A3000 and I can see a white light coming from Rapid Road.

I have installed Poseidon and launched Prefs/Trident where the status shows as online

Trident - Rapid Road photo 20160322_101129_zpsoj0diav5.jpg

But plugging a USB stick doesn't do anything. I'm reading the instructions in the leaflet that came with Rapid Road but that there's no troubleshoot guide.

Any help will be very welcome. The same to help me to get online with the X-Surf 100.

Try a USB mouse to test.

USB Sticks will need more work to get going by setting up FAT.

Good luck!

Do yourself a favor and buy Roadshow.  It comes with a script for the xsurf 100. You basically install it,  move the config over as the docs say and reboot.

As for Poseidon be sure you arw using version 4.5 and launch prefs. Tou need to also open a cli and type the command to attach the ports as mentioned in the docs,  save the config in prefs and reboot. The dot next to online should be green.

Strangely enough the button was green yesterday before the Boing Bag updates that I made this morning. What could have happened?

Go back into poseidon prefs and setup the device again and this time SAVE!

BTW, since you have a 3640 card in your 3000D...you might run into the dreaded 3640 issue

I had similar problems on my a1200 with rapid road.

First time it didn't recognize my USB key or USB mouse. Rapid road was also indicated to be online according to trident. But no devices showed up on connecting (no popup too).

After i removed the rapid road device from trident and added the rapid road device again, everything worked ok.

When you plug in a USB device it should give you some kind of notification on this screen (see attached screenshots).

Are you getting anything in the log at all?  You may want to start with reinstalling Poseidon from Jen's site, now that you've got all the BB's and other stuff installed.

Note that I've found some devices that just don't work at all - one particular model of USB mouse from Microsoft that's common around my office, amusingly enough.  But Dell, HP, other brands of mice and keyboards should all work fine, and flash drives / external storage devices, once you get FAT95 installed & configured.  :)

Did you connect the auxiliary power cable?

One more thing - is something wrong with the color on your monitor?  That "online" indicator should be green, not black.  (of course, maybe it's just my screen here, lol.)

The card did not include any auxiliary power cable. RR is just plug in the X-SURF 100 and the network seated in the Zorro card. The light in the RRshines brightly white.

Bah, you got tricked into buying the X-Surf 100 model, not the clockport model.  ;)  http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/rapidroad

Difference is that that the clockport model works on an A1200, also (if you ever decide to move it), and includes the auxiliary power cable, which is recommended even in big-box systems if using power-hungry devices.  I installed it right off the bat in mine, since i knew at minimum I'd be using at least a hub.  Extra power never hurts, right?  ;)

Wow, I completely forgotten I'd tried to write a review of this card, until my own review came up in a google search results.  ;)  http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=68444

TL;DR.  Reinstall Poseidon if nothing is showing up in the log (see my previous screenshots).

I could never get Roadshow to work to save my life, but I'm probably just a big dummy.  Plenty of folks have it working with the X-Surf 100.

The GUI interface in Miami is great, too bad it's sloooow compared to Roadshow, and Holger Kruse is such a %(*%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!(#.  :roflmao:

I'm done reinstalling Poseidon and I'm sure that is version 4.5, but still it reads "on" but no green light.

I'm positive that yesterday before the BB updates, it was green.

These are some pictures of what Scout has found too:

Is there any other way to check if the X-Surf 100 & RR are OK?
