You are a very weird guy with your actions, speaking and writing even in your language... what is madrid+time? maybe CET?... why invite if you ban anyone with different opinion?

Im still waiting any explanation for this 4000eur goal.

Im not sure why he has explain anything regarding monetary goal.
My thoughts are;

In todays economy situation I can see why people look hard for ways to establish a income, even if its a first crack at a game.
Viddi with his sequel. Daniel with his efforts in Tower57, Wings etc.
All of them, this one included, ask people if they are willing to support their efforts, and hopefully it can be a foundation for something sustainable.

I do not expect you to ever agree with my post tho, since I have gotten the distinct impression that you think everything amiga related have to be free.

You are entitled to your opinion, but noone owes you any explaination why they hope for a return for their efforts.

Amiten:

In the youtube vid you played "Jim Power".. do you think its possible you can make the background scroll in Rowan like in Jim Power?  Are you going to have music playing during gameplay?  Do you have a sample of that music?

It looks like you made some changes to Rowan when he "jumps"..looks good, looks more fluid.

Why does he or anyone else have to explain why they are charging what they are charging.   I would like to get 4000 bucks to make a game and if people are willing to donate to that what has it got to do with you.

If you don't like kickstarters (which would be ironic) or you don't like the game, fine don't either fund it or play it.

Otherwise nobody owes you an explanation of anything.  They guy is making a game, he want to get paid for it.  Good on him.

Go do you own thing, make your own game, try and get paid for it.

Amiga users have a habit of throwing money at everybody who claims he'll do something "for the Amiga".

Amiten, be honest. In your case, that would mean putting the following facts on the table:

  • "I have started half a dozen game projects, none of them ever reached 'playable preview' status"
  • "I described myself as an AMOS novice just recently"
  • "I never asked for money before"
  • "I need or want money this time, because (a), (b) and (c). I need the amount specified because (d) and (e)"
Kickstarter was meant for projects that couldn't be funded otherwise - not to make a quick buck without any effort and only worry about delivering product afterwards. Since Amiten's game - if it ever gets completed - will be a spare time project, there's no reason to collect funds now. Just create the game, put it in a nice box and sell it to collectors. Viddi did that - with a Backbone game - and it went so well he made a sequel and distributed it the same way.

People are making too much of a fuzz regarding the amount of money aske for in this and other projects.

Thats the nice thing about kickstarter, the sum each of us pledge is small, and is barely noticable, but get enough pledgers and it adds up nicely.
When someone without trackrecord (to me) ask for support, I usually go for lower tier pledges and basically go on blind faith. Its a gamble, and yes, the amiga factor is a motivator. But its peanuts for each and everyone of us.
The possible gains are new developers for the Amiga.

I really like the Reshoot video too. Very much the type of game I loved back in the days.

If amiten delivers with this game, and end up producing more games, its been a worthwhile gamble, giving me hours of enjoyment. If not, it didnt cost me more than I would spend on a cinematrip that merely provides a few hours.

@Amiten; Dont get worked up about people being negative. Do like Amigakit/Trevor, stay positive and ignore the negativity. Ofcourse accept constructive critisism, but as long as Ive read Amigaforums, every effort have had x amount of people going out of their way to belittle peoples efforts. Just prove them wrong by focus on development :)

This kickstarter project already collected nearly 1200 Euros, unbelievable.

SMDH.  You've obviously never used Kickstarter or you'd understand that it's actually collected $0, at this point.  It's pledges, nothing more.  There's nothing to stop a backer from changing their pledge, or even cancelling their payment method, prior to the completion of the Kickstarter (when the money is actually collected - if the goal is met).

I wish people wouldn't bloviate about things they don't know anything about, lol.  ;)

+1

Kind of funny how all the people commenting negatively on this thread are only serving to keep it at the top of the forums.  Hate this project so much?  Stop commenting on it so it will drop off the radar and no one else will see it.  You're basically giving him "free advertising" at this point.  :D

They say in the description it's written in AMOS.  Just like games written in Backbone, have very high system requirements to compensate for inefficiencies of the language.  Just be glad someone is working on some new software, eh?  ;)

AMOS doesn't require as much resources as Backbone... Can't be compared these two.
AMOS became famous and widely used by newbes and beginners way back because of it's modular system and well prepared extensions like AmCaf, AMAL etc. So practically everyone can make a small program with opening a screen, loading a gfx, 2 sprites and a protracker module with some sound samples and that's it, a game is ready in the moment when you add collision detection and start the mod to play... (Before anyone asks me to provide something like that - I'm not interested, and also can tell the reason why. I can't jump over the high quality standard which have been set in 1989 with SOTB, and 1992 with Superfrog. so from that point I'm realistic and know where are my limits.)

This was written in 1996. ;)

Now I'm waiting for AmiVania (or what it was) to be released first.
Not offending anyone, just stating facts.

Nice!  See... looks like my "request" is doable.  Now for it to be incorporated into this game.  :-)
