Is anyone planning to demo attend with a system equipped with OS4 running on WinUAE?

This is a really important development and I think a presentation and panel discussion is a must.

why is this so important? if it was, then there would be some reaction towards it, wouldnt it? instead there are just few people on their own trying to hack os4 into runing under uae. so far it looks like this doesnt offer much, except a satisfaction to squeeze something into where it wasnt intended for. it appears much more efficient to run plain 68k emulation. most likely the outcome of the whole affair will be that everybody who wants will take a peek at it and quickly returns where they came from.

i wasn't planning on doing a formal demo of AOS4 running under UAE, but on sunday the intuitionbase.com table will have my thinkpad setup with AOS4+UAE available for folks to play with if interested.

while there are always more classic guys at amiwest than NG users, there are a lot of NG users all the same, including some of the AOS4 devs. maybe we can rope a couple of them into talking about it? dunno -- but i'll try. thx for the suggestion! :)

Strange situation that there is no banner for Amiwest on amiga.org only on amigaworld.net
Trevor / A-Eon now own site, sponsoring show for couple years now, and there's no activity on that plan... This is no his job for sure.. moderators are you there?

OS4.x can be run on mobile hardware for the first time.  It can now be run on cheaper hardware, hardware that people already have.  Don't you think that's an important development.

A number of threads on most Amiga sites, 800 respondants (not many polls get such a response here these days) to a poll on Amiga New de.

The emulation is not mature at this point but there are already various videos on youtube showing that it works and there is a lot of interest.

It's much more efficient to run software directly through Windows too but people still run web browsers and various ports under UAE.

That will be nice that people can see it in action and use it.

Would be nice to have a full discussion with all interest parties, attendees and those on IRC.

I think this is something that Hyperion should support but so far there has been no official word.

not really. by your logic amiga os already runs on mobile devices for years, namely the genuine one. even if os4 ran natively on x86 but still with the speed from the nineties it would remain nice gimmick, but nothing people would seriously use. seriously as in actually using it for productivity or so, which is the point os4 fans try to prove. namely that os4 is a contemporary solution and not just a retro toy. as it is, it only shows that amiga hackers are more capable, have more vision and sense for experiment than the os4 development team.

you could vote on that poll multiple times. i did for the fun it. and i told it christoph. im pretty sure there was others eager to prove some point as it was the case in the past. so i dont take it as a secure reference.

the point of running uae is to run genuine amiga software. if you can run some more or less contemporary open source apps alongside without switching to the host system, it is just a convenience but not a particular argument. os4 lacks genuine software. i doubt there is overwhelming demand to run quick and dirty sdl and qt ports under uae when you can run them natively.

Just to get back to thread "AmiWest 2014"

So why come to AmiWest? If you're an Amiga user, there are many reasons. I've been thinking about the reasons I go to the show as well as reasons that others have mentioned to me.

reasons to be at AmiWest 2014, the AmiVerse show on the West Coast of the USA.

    10. You can potentially experience the entire range of the AmiVerse at
AmiWest.  We say "potentially" because that depends upon who shows up.

An expanding AmiVerse
Since AmiWest began, new "planets" have arrived in the AmiVerse. Planet AmigaOS NG, planet AROS, planet MorphOS, and planet E-UAE have begun orbiting in the AmiVerse.

This is an amazing expansion, fueled by the improvements that others have made in what some are now calling "Amiga-based systems." None of these efforts are, to my knowledge, funded by multi-billion-dollar companies. All are the efforts of volunteers whose passions for a better computer system often exceed their resources.

Come and help expand the AmiVerse!
Come and see what others are bringing. Bring something yourself: a favorite configuration, an insight into OS operation, new and / or improved software to show, photos of your setup, - everything AmiVerse related. Bring your AROS or MorphOS or E-UAE setup for the community area so others can see what's happening there. What people bring is what enriches our show.

So come to AmiWest. The Programming Seminar starts on Thursday, October 23 and runs throughout the show. The show itself begins with the Classic Clinic at 5 PM on Friday with free food and Amiga technicians ready to help you upgrade your machine with the parts you bring with you. See AmiWest.net for the rest of the basic schedu

You should come Bill, I would like to meet you and I think I still owe you $50 or so and have some materials to return to you from one of the previous shows where I was selling some of your software (sorry I forgot to send it to you).

You will have a great time, I am sure.  Hope to see you there.:)
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)
