North-Eastern US Atlantic Amiga Meetup?
« on: June 24, 2014, 02:01:47 PM »
Since there seem to be a lot of us in the North-East US Atlantic area. Lets organize a meetup! This thread is for members in the area to check in and discuss organization of possible meetups.

I myself am unable to host one - for a variety of reasons. However if someone is willing to host one I can probably drive other members in the VA/DC area ( My car gets 25 MPG - save some petrol since its $4/gallon! and can hold 5 people including myself and several machines in the boot ) to the meet up assuming they're on the way and willing to pay for some fuel.

Anyways lets get something organized!
After many years in the Amiga community I have decided to leave the Amiga community permanently. If you have a question about SGI or Sun computers please PM me and I will return your contact as soon as I can.

$4/gallon!  That's less than half price.

Petrol Prices in the UK are 129.9 p/L which is US$ 2.19/L.  US$3.60/US Gallon is US$1.00/L, less than half the UK price...

i'd prefer something closer to NYC myself, but i'd happily take the train down to DC for this -- assuming it wasn't friday night or saturday, of course. if i can be there, i will. and if not, well, i hope someone takes pictures.

I'm in central Jersey. The last meet up that was had by a few folks on here was in Baltimore area and that has just become too far atm. If there is anything that anyone wants to do in the eastern PA, NJ, lower NY area and on a weekend, I'd be more than interested.

I'm in New England too, (Cape Cod) and would be willing to bring my X1000 to an event if it wasn't too far away.
happy X1000 owner

Great seems there's a demand. Will someone who can help organize one agree on a place we can meet that can host all of us?  I can drive as far as New York comfortably.

As far as when - I'd say sometime in the fall because I'm not free until after Otakon.

I'd love a meet up in MA, and I'd love to check out an X1000.

@thread

as for location the only places i could host would be my home or my offices. the former is in waterbury, CT; the latter in poughkeepsie, NY.  it sounds like both would be too far for most folks?

New York is fine with me - I got a friend who's moving up there so I have an excuse.

It would have to be a major get together for me to drive 2+ hours.  Otherwise I'd prefer to fly out to a west coast show.  :)

I hope you can get enough interest to make an East Coast meeting happen, but also hope you consider doing both, and book a flight to Sacramento in October.:)  Edit: 2 hours is nothing, I drive 7 to 8 hours each time I go to an AmiWest Show, but hopefully not this year, as I am looking to move to within 1 to 2 hours drive from Sacramento before the show happens this Oct.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)
