It would have to be a major get together for me to drive 2+ hours.  Otherwise I'd prefer to fly out to a west coast show.  :)

I hope you can get enough interest to make an East Coast meeting happen, but also hope you consider doing both, and book a flight to Sacramento in October.:)  Edit: 2 hours is nothing, I drive 7 to 8 hours each time I go to an AmiWest Show, but hopefully not this year, as I am looking to move to within 1 to 2 hours drive from Sacramento before the show happens this Oct.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

I may try to make it to AmiWest this year or next... but we'll see. This year is likely a no as MS Azure will be opening a new DC and I'll probably be assigned to it ( Yes, I'm a Microserf, no, I don't like MS at all )
After many years in the Amiga community I have decided to leave the Amiga community permanently. If you have a question about SGI or Sun computers please PM me and I will return your contact as soon as I can.

It's not the drive by itself, but in relation to what I get out of it in return.  I'd drive 4-5 hours for an overnight or full day if I'm going to get a lot out of it, but driving more than a couple of hours to just hang out for a few hours with a couple of other Amiga enthusiasts probably isn't worth it.

I would love to take a trip out west for a show, but I'm torn between AmiWest and CommVex... and it would be difficult to do one never mind both with my schedule, family, etc.

The hardest part is always finding a location to meet.  Unless someone happens to have a very large house... my crappy rented-off-craigslist-basement is close to my main job and derby practice, but not at all suited for get-togethers.  My office has several conference rooms that could work, but it would have to be late at night or on a weekend, to make sure no sales folks get interrupted by Amigan's traipsing through the office.  ;)  Also the location (Gainesville VA, near Manassas) isn't very centrally located.

@Bigbronc's house in Maryland was good for the few meetings we had last year, but I don't believe he's active anymore?

Location, location, location!

If you guys want to do it in September (I'm in Philadelphia,Pa,USA)

I can offer my place. Its fairly spacious and will have multiple rooms for gear setups. I'm just like 3 minutes off of the allegheny exit of I-95. (a few minutes from Center City, Philadelphia)

I have some video projectors (Can set up amiga demos playing) and some other fun stuff I suppose (laser displays and so on)

Can have BBQ and beers...

Philly sounds pretty decent. Still its at least an overnight trip for me, but hey its doable. Of you want to organise an event HaywirePC I'll bring my A3k and also my SGI Fuel and any other systems I have in my possession ( Maybe even some boxen I want to sell )In my opinion, we should use the meet for a few different things:

1. To make professional connections with fellow computer enthusiasts who share a common interest.
2. To swap / consummate any sales of hardware we bring that's not to exhibit/network.
3. To share software and code ( I can make a few floppies with NFS or Samba software and setup a share onsite for swapping to facilitate this )

I can bring my A1200 and show it off a bit...even if it requires some coaxing. Maybe someone could help me with the Indy mk2 and get some big screen WHDLoad going on.

I'd also be interested in possibly purchasing some HW as well. I'm always on the lookout for something fun to play with that is reasonably priced :)

I'm outside of Trenton in Jersey so I could probably be at Haywire's in about an hour or less (depending on traffic). I'd love to see how your tower is coming along!

In the NY area (up in Westchester where WAUG, the Westchester Amiga Users Group still meets most months) and definitely interested in something like this even if down in the DC or Philly area and i'm sure we can fill up the car with some people or hit the Acela.

ROAD TRIP!

Okay then Haywire looks like you have the demand.

I may not be able to come in September though, due to the fact I'll be gone in August for half a week and my employer won't be thrilled about that. I'll try to swing it, but it depends.

Maybe we could make it earlier in the day and do a lunch meet type of thing and get everyone on the road at a fairly agreeable time if distance is a factor.

AFAIK, nothing. :(

terminills, you're in NY, right? maybe we could see if the westchester guys are still interested in hosting. there seems to be enough in the tri-state area to hold a get-together. i'd still like to try this.
