There's nothing quite like getting your freak on with Amigas.

Odyssey would run on an 060 with 256MB RAM, it would just be a tad slow. Disable JavaScript and use the WarpDT datatypes for image decoding and it could be usable.

Define tad slow. Knowing that we are supporting a browser for the Amiga that finally allows us to view all flash pages 100% like Windows 7 and Windows 8, we are supporting or donating to a browser that allows us to watch videos, such as youtube, etc on the browser itself like we do with Windows and Linux and so on.....we are supporting a browser that allows us to play flash/html5/and java script games and apps.

Having achieved all that...what are the chance rate that speed is a factor when it comes to legacy hardware? :P You know as well, when you say tad slow...that is very much deceiving...we can say that if we DID (which is insane) but import it to 68k...it is good enough to browse only HTML5/CSS page...but flash, javascript and watching videos on a classical Amiga is not feasible even if we manage to grind the 060 to run at 200 Mhz (which is impossible to do).

So...I believe...the best we can do..is run it on AmigaOS 4.1 on a powerful PPC...that is where the benefit of donation goes..not on a 060 hardware running at 50 Mhz or 100 mhz CPU....

Well..once its open, you're all free to try it.
Why not?
If some nimrod thinks its worth his trouble to surf the web with a C64, at least the Amiga has enough ass to do so in a worthwhile fashion.

Running f.e. on X86 "68k" is more than competitive. And there is new FPGA based hardware like FPGA Arcade and at least two other projects at the horizon. PPC is for me more strange, rare and expensive and not much software. 68k at least has much more software. And not fogetting much more users and better distribution opportunities.

Except for the fact that you seem to forget we can already run 68K software.
And that not all our hardware is expensive.
I spend less of a Mac than an FPGA system would cost and it runs faster.

AND, there isn't that much 68K software I want to run.
Remember, we are talking about a back port to 68K, not vice versa.

If you are talking about Odyssey here, this is unfortunately not true.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

Forget Flash, we will never have full support of Flash.

No, that would be Odyssey running on MorphOS with a 3GHz G5 or on AROS with a 4GHz i7.

Once the code is fully open anyone can choose to port it to whatever Amiga flavour they like, real hardware or emulation, it doesn't matter.

Whatever floats your boat. :)

WOW!
So this is actually going to happen?
Right after the miraculously timed OS4 "MUI4" shows up.
And one of Bill Buck's pet projects is helping to collect the funds?
AND tmhgm (notoriously blue fellow that he is) has been promoting the development (while lots of MorphOS user have contributed).

Unreal! We must be the rotten bastards we have been made out to be!

No one should ever be sorry for supporting an Amiga coder, whatever his platform of choice. The more Fab codes, the more everybody benefits, including os4.

Anyway, two browsers are better than one! Odyssey for the more Amiga-like experience, and TW for compatibility with the various plug-ins.

Soon he can stop bothering! :)

(BTW, "A HUGE THANKS to our local Linux experts for making Ubuntu 'just work' so I can focus on Timberwolf. I have the code and I was just finishing up the cross-compiler dev environment." Well, an OS that "just work" *is* indeed a good attribute in an OS!)

Now it's down to $937 remaining!

(crossposted from AW.net, my alias there is Overflow)

Went ahead and donated $100.

Appriciate the hard work of both fab and kas1e :)

Happy coding ^^

Donations: $6803

Raised 91% of $7500 goal.

As for regretting donating, even if we get 2 fully functioning browser on the different Amiga OS platforms, supporting developers can only be a good thing. For the most part we seem to take their work for granted, and expect it to cost nothing. So my 100 dollars is merely a token sum considering the amount of joy using Amiga (and C64) has given me since the late 80s.

Only 697 to go, and at current pace we might actually break the goal by the end of this week? (crossing fingers)
