Amiga Technologies 4000T RTG/AGA/Ethernet/DVD/040/25
« on: June 12, 2013, 04:27:52 PM »
I have posted one of my Amiga 4000T machines on Ebay if anyone is interested.  For right now, I'm limiting the sale to just North America due to the very heavy weight which would result in much higher shipping costs if I go international.  This may change later depending on the response to this auction.

The machine has a 4GB compact flash card as the main IDE harddrive, a DVD Writer, OS3.9 with Boing Bags 1 & 2, as well as the unofficial 3 and 4 installed.

Picasso96 with the GVP Spectrum 28/24 card for a nicer desktop experience
Hydra ethernet card for internet connectivity
16MB system RAM (maxed motherboard RAM)
A3640 68040/25Mhz rev 3.1
Syquest 125MB drive,
case lock key,
keyboard and Mouse, etc

It was fun to restore.  I got it from someone who had picked it up as part of a bundle of old hardware that was found in a dry warehouse in Florida.  It wasn't even working at the time.  I've upgraded it and gotten it back into working condition.

These machines are getting harder and harder to find as the years go on, so don't miss out!

Was that your BIN price?  Yeah, probably would've fetched more in standard auction format.  Hen's teeth!!

No offense man, but this kinda stuff pisses me off :angryfire: WTH ?!

"I was just walking down the street and stopped in this alley to pee and tripped over a pile of rare amigas and 2 gold bars...."

NOTHING like this EVER happens to anyone actually looking to buy such a machine, or in crappy Minnesota. I swear all the f'ing stuff that doesn't suck is on either coast ! :D

ALSO...that was quick...congrats man ! You could buy a nice 2000 and keep the change ! If you need counseling after the ebay fee raping, I know a good support group...
I gots me a Video Toaster...where do I put the bread in ?!?!

The Buy-It-Now price was $849.99.  Maybe that was a bit low, in hindsight...

Anyway, to those who were interested, don't worry, it wasn't the only one I had, it was just the first one that was ready to be released back into the wild.

In the future, I'll try to make it so that more people don't get shut out so quickly.

Have fun.

With the spectrum card you should have seen $1200 to $1400 for even a BIN!

Is that because of the passthrough or just the fact that it had an RTG card?

Damn just 850$ for a fully working 4000T :/ Where I live ive seen 4000D's near unexpanded go for near that amount. The last 4000T I saw on Swedish ebay sold for near 2000$ and it diden't even work and was really yellow :/

I was planning on getting a 4000D this year, maybe I should keep my eyes open for a 4000T instead :)

I think that's too much with just the 3640 accelerator. $800-$1000 is about right, maybe a little more for being so clean.

$400-$700 Base 4000T with 3640
$100-$200 Spectrum
$50-$100 Hydra

The other trinkets, setup and condition no doubt added more but it's more difficult to estimate the luck and like aspects ;).

The Spectrum passthrough is nice but a Cybervision 64 can be bought for not much more and is way better performance.

Nice job btw. Your presentation and reasonable buy it now price and shipping made for a quick sell. You might have sold it for a little more if you weren't in a hurry but I think you did pretty good.

Wow, apparently, someone got a very good deal from me today.

No worries though, it was a learning experience.

As I've alluded to in other posts, it wasn't the only one I had.  If/when I decide to let another one go, I may just post something a few days before hand to let those that might be interested that one is coming up so that more will have a chance to keep an eye out for it. I'll also not let it have a buy it now (or whatever depending on the format) so that anyone that wants will have a better chance to at least participate.

Working on this one was fun, but I'd forgotten how frustrating working with old hardware can be.

After seeing Apple's big event earlier this week, I can't help but wonder what the latest gen amiga would have been if Commodore hadn't screwed up so badly and all the lawsuits, etc.  That new Mac Pro should have been the new Amiga Pro...I digress.

I'm afraid, Toto, we are not in Kansas any longer.  A working standard A4000T will bring in $1000, moderate condition $1100, nice condition $1200+.  You are on the money with the Spectrum 24/28, but only the 2Base BNC Hydra would go for less than $100; all RJ-45 NICs will bring in the near $200 range, though the Hydra is the least desirable.

That is the card I have in my 3000, hopefully get it running in the next cpl days. As far as, pay and recieve...sure, but I'd much rather find a pile of amigas in an alley, or in some attic for free. How many times does that happen...apparently a lot over in the UK....they suck like that :D

There was a 4000T that sold for $550-$600 on this forum not long ago. I made an offer because it was so cheap but didn't get it. I don't think it had a 3640 but it did have a SCSI media card drive and HD floppy which makes up for it. The condition looked good and it was working. I bought an Ariadne 1 ethernet card (one of the fastest) for $80 which blows the Hydra away and I gave a Hydra card away to a friend. I'm sure Hydras have gone for more than $100 and Spectrums have sold for more than $200 but the buyer either doesn't understand the hardware or they in a hurry to buy.

Prices do vary a lot by location. The U.S. is cheap with the coasts being higher. Shipping is an issue with the big box Amigas or foreigners would buy them up. I think the fpgaArcade and the promise of other fpga hardware has reduced the insane prices a little. Collectors still want the old Amigas but many users would rather have the conveniences that newer technology provides.

Yes, one may find "once in a blue moon" prices, but on the whole following the general trend on Amibay and eBay, the prices I gave are just what you will find. The average user won't just chuck his Amiga out in the street, and will reference the going prices on EAB, Amibay, eBay.uk, and here before putting up his stuff for sale. Some prices if listed as BIN are good enough for some of to pick them up as soon as we see them (the reason why I check those places about six times a day).  :)
