The scsi drive in the 3000 I picked up is bad.  What replacement options are there being these are so old?

Go to a4000t.com and get a SCSI card reader. Use a 4gb cf card as your hard drive.

Could I get this: http://a4000t.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68&products_id=184

Then search for a 4GB card later?  Is that the largest size?

My drive went from formating errors and bad sectors to now not showing at all.  Is it possible my built in controller went bad?

I'd probably get the SCSI card reader and just use that:

Use the SCSI card reader and the Transcend 4gig CF card and your good to go!

Once you get rid of your mechanical HD and go to the CF card, it's like going from 14.4 dail-up to broadband internet!

Oh man.  I've got to pull out my amiga and pop one of those in it.  I remeber paying $100 bucks for a used 1gig scsi hard drive.  Today I bought a 32gb usb thumb drive for 40 bucks.  It's insane.  The bad part is the 1gig drive was a steal it was almost 1000 dollars new.

Just so you guys know,i sell those card readers.. the transcend 2gb cf's work fine. i just don't have any spare 4GB or cheap sources for them.
If you don't have a battery in the 4000,you can't address the LUNS which are needed for the other slots to operate beside the pcmcia port. If a battery is not a option, order one with the pcmcia to CF adapter(and or a cf card if 2Gb is good),this way you don't need luns and can address it as a normal device.
If you do have a battery installed, grab SCSI-Prefs.lha from aminet and set the 3000 to use LUNS.
i recommend you set the card reader to device 0
they have termination jumpers so you dont have to worry there.
