I am just back from holiday and got to check my two main monitors with my stock A1200. They BOTH work!!! (oh the excitement!)
One is a current-generation LED-backlit monitor (bought 3 months ago), the Dell U2311H. This one works perfectly (at least to my untrained eye), and it' miggy picture is miles better than the foggy image I used to get with my 2-year old 22-inch LG television over SCART. Just to be clear here's the connection I'm talking about:
A1200 ---> 23/15pin VGA adapter (eyetech stock) ---> Dell U2311H via VGA
I tried PAL, NTSC, High Res, etc., they all work and the picture is crystal clear, save for the slighlty mishapped pixels due to running an LCD at a lower resolution than its native one (in the case of the Dell it's 1920x1080).
The other monitor is a 5(+) year old NEC 1970NX I got off ebay for £30 a couple of months ago. To my astonishment (as I've tried countless monitors over the years, always to be disappointed) this one also works on PAL 15khz screens but the vertical positioning is off by about 10-20 pixels (cannot see the bottom edge of the picture). I haven't tried fiddling with the positioning settings yet, or overscan settings so this may well be rectifiable.
I feel very lucky today - I'm off to buy myself some lottery numbers first thing in the morning! I'll post some pictures of the monitors in action soon afterwards.
