WTB: Cable to connect Toaster 4000 to Flyer board
« on: June 11, 2011, 07:20:27 PM »
Eh, I have an a4000D with a toaster inside, and I just got a Flyer board...but I don't have those cables to connect the two.  I DO have the SCSI octopus cable but not the connector cable :furious:

You will need that or it will not work.

Call up NewTek, they still support this.

Hmm, I'll give them a call on Monday (I do need the Toaster CD software as well) but I was under the impression that all they could provide was a picture of the pinout and then I'd have to fab one myself.  I'm not nearly crafty enough for that!

You might also need the flyer BNC connector!
When you bought the flyer new, it came with both.
You pulled off the toaster bnc, attached the cable to the new BNC, and after folding the cable correctly, plugged it into the toaster4000. then the cable led to the header on the flyer.

Darn, wish I had an instruction manual  Oh well hopefully I'll figure this out!  I wonder if there is a place to get all this old junk.

Give Newtek a try. Get some one in the support department and tell then you have a first generation Toaster/flyer. Talking to the regular sales rep will probably get no where. I had to call several times and talk to at least 4 different people before someone new what I was talking about. If they can find another cable and CD (you need last version, 4.3 I think) they will be happy to sell them to you. That's were I got my cable and CD. If you strike out, we'll see what can be done to get you one made.

The picture I directed you to was not from Newtek. It was of my own cable I layed bare for others to see the unique and custom way in which it's built.
