Heh. Let's face it Darrin. In the grand scheme of electronics, none of our motley crew gets to stand at the head of the line when parts are ordered. Throw in a natural disaster and that just pushes us further back in line, since the big boys will have the pull to get their supply lines restored 1st.

recent articles concerning supply, demand, and usage

Oh, I agree.  When it comes to "ordering in bulk", we're not exactly fufilling the market that the majority of supply companies have in mind.  "First come first served doesn't exist", it is more "richest company first, peons to the back of the line".  :D

X86 stuff has nothing to do with manufacture in Japan only PPC/Cell based consoles. China maybe but not Japan sorry.

"Shortages of BT Resin as a consequence of the disaster in Japan have been a top concern for the entire chip industry"

ok. If "the entire chip industry" comments all apply to PPC/Cell, I'll accept your post as fact.

So Franko, what was Disney's response to your report of CUSA misappropriating clips from Tron Legacy for use in their ads? Did they send Mickey Mouse out to do the hit?

Disney's naff response that they send you automatically on receipt of any email you send them is...

Quote
Dear Frank Spiers,
Thank you for your e-mail.
We want you to know that we very much appreciate the time you took to bring this matter to our attention. We protect our intellectual property rights vigorously and we take reports of suspected infringements very seriously. However, as you can appreciate, our investigations are confidential. We neither reveal our sources nor do we generally correspond further with them about the investigation.
Please feel free to use our email address, tips@disneyantipiracy.com, if you want to provide more information about the suspected infringement or to report a suspected infringement in the future.
Sincerely,
Charles
Disney Online UK

Odd thing is, no matter which department you email "Charles" always replies, he must be a very busy chap methinks or Disney has lot of Charlies working for them... :)

Never mind, I sent them a good old fashioned hand written letter as well (did it in me best red crayon & joined up writing so I doed) just hope it get's past the US customs to their HQ with the smell of Semtex on it... :D

@thread

Although other projects discussed on Amiga.org and AW haven't exactly "broadcasted" it, the problems overseas have caused parts delays. I have no knowledge of whether this affects the C64x in any way, just saying...
There are many good news articles on this topic. You can hardly find an article without also encountering the word "resin" either.

Yeah, they need to get product out ASAP.  The longer they delay the more chance customers will come to the conclusion that they've bought a screenless netbook for US$600.  This is a purchase that just doesn't look good in retrospect.  You don't want to give people a chance to think about it too long.

I'll join you, I could do with some cases! Best part about the whole thing......
You can indeed argue that 'At least someone is releasing something in the Commodore / Amiga name'....but if the product is a load of fucking crap what is the point? To bury the brand forever?

I think when C= USA hits the multiple-years delays that everything Amiga related* has had in the last 17 years, then you can throw stones.

*=except for Jens' excellent products, of course.
Back away from the EU-SSR!

At the risk of starting another shitstorm...

Now the website says late may early june delivery for the 3 products they are apparently taking pre-orders for.

Another delay. Said mid april before. I can't wait to see the 30 million dollar ad campaign on airing on "major networks". Was supposed to air last christmas, but then these computers were supposed to start selling a year ago, or well, that was other computers then.

Steven

Well, at least there are not any coupons or CUSA Club T-shirts involved!
