Franko I'm sure I have seen Kidding used in US films and TV shows. I can hear someone like Bruce Willis saying "U Godda be kiddin' me" in my head

I think the main problem is the mis-spelling of You're which changes kidding from a verb to a noun

It doesn't hurt anyone here if somebody wants their PC to look like a classic computer does it?

It does when for about the past 8 months it's been force fed down yer throat that these were going to be the new official Commodore C64s & Amigas running Workbench, OS5 and the like and being told to like it or lump it by them.. :(

Was there any need for all those months of blatant gobshite by them trying to pass themselves off as the saviour of us all and delivering the real deal, not just some emulator in a crappy box... :madashell:

What was the point in antagonising so many folk with this BS about Workbench etc... only for them to never use it in the end... :madashell:

It may not hurt, but it sure as hell pissed a lot of folk off the rattling of gums by Barry, Leo & Dammy for all these months only for them to do a u-turn and finally admit on there website that they are nothing more than PCs running emulators, what was the friggin point in it all... :madashell:

All though I see the validity of your other points and how they can irritate I must say that most of the news and information about C= USA that I have read was by people complaining about them on here.

I bet nobody complaining on this thread has preordered or intends to preorder one of the new commodore shaped PC's so this delay does not affect us (the non ordering posters) in any way. Yet everyone is jumping into the thread, keeping it at the top and providing advertisements for C=USA.

My main point is let them get on with it. There's much worse going on in the world than some guys making a PC that looks like a commodore.

At the risk of starting another shitstorm...

Now the website says late may early june delivery for the 3 products they are apparently taking pre-orders for.

http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_Store.aspx

The Vic series was being shipped to end user via China, I have a feeling the initial batch was sold out and that is the reason why there are now delays until June for those AIO systems.  For the C64x, the early pre-orders should be getting them in early May.  First mold is very close to being finished, probably next week.  Once that is done (acid wash and final inspections are completed), it goes to the company to begin injection molding the case which are given to the assemblers, which are all in southern Florida.

Another delay. Said mid april before. I can't wait to see the 30 million dollar ad campaign on airing on "major networks". Was supposed to air last christmas, but then these computers were supposed to start selling a year ago, or well, that was other computers then.

You think they would have told Disney no and gone with production early?  I don't think so. $30M is spread over 5 years so that's $6M @ year, including cost of the advertising agency, production costs, and finally air time.

I'm going to go buy a tron dvd. I was buying one soon anyway, I'm curious to see if the compusa ad is in all dvds or if they just paid to have their warez peddled in a very small number of dvds.

Maybe someone from there will clarify, were the ads in every tron legacy dvd, or just some of them?

Should be in everyone during the co-branding period.  Also, Disney does not take money for advertising with their products.  They are too huge to do something like that, it's all about them.

Quote
No one from CUSA clarified yet if they have permission to use the tron legacy footage in their ad, or just used it without permission yet.

Everything released has to be pre-approved by Disney.  I've seen a TV ad that was knocked down by Disney.

I think Franko reported them to disney. Thats funny.

Didn't Franko have his own Disney/C=USA Youtube video out?  Oh, I doubt it's still up.

Wot... then we'd have to go back to arguing about AROS, MorphOS, PPC or not PPC and all that other malarky, best to keep the negative stuff aimed towards an outsider like "they who shall not be mentioned" and make it at least look like we can all agree (a wee bit) with each other about somthing in Amigaland... ;)

PS:what's so ruddy well good about this Friday, have you looked out the window... Can't see any more that 20 feet right now cos of all the fog/mist and it's bloody freezing, what happened to global warming... it's in reverse here right now... mumble, grumble, pah... :(

It's getting better as the day goes on. It must be heading north so you should be able to see soon.
It's more smoggy than foggy at the moment.

Ah... at last some good news in a CUSA thread... :)

Quite handy having you around, kinda like having me own personal weather forecaster, wish it would hurry up and get here though I keep waiting for a ghost ship to appear out of the fog and some mad glowing ghostly pirates to hack me head off again...

There is indeed - but you slap the douchebag you have, not the one you want. CUSA and their army of zealots have been getting up in our faces for the larger part of a year now, and this is just a bit cathartic.

Yes, so we've gathered. Disney is High and Holy and too noble for cheap hucksterism, and they don't use such grubby tokens of value as money, which is why CUSA's lauded advertising budget is sitting safe and secure in a vault somewhere and the entire "co-branding agreement" doubtless consisted of an impassioned plea by Barry Altman that was so moving as to bring the board of directors to tears...

My forecast only works if the wind direction is north.

Bugger... :(

Do you have any relatives to the north, east & west of me that I could contact on days when the weather is coming from those directions... :D

Yeah me too.  What happened to delay the release?  Was it true that the new batch of SID chips was radiated and had to be sent back to Japan ?

The pain of not knowing.  Has 008 been uncovered?

So basically you have no idea, but you're willing to make up any excuse you can think of.
