Hi,

@Karlos,

Well you finally did it, I give up

Such a shame what's happened here lately. Old skool trolling and heavy handed moderation put me off posting a while back.

As it looks like its about to get worse, I think i'll bail out at this point before I get moderated out of existence.

So long, and thanks for all the pancakes!

You finally ran me off

smerf
I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

I don't see what exactly has changed around this place, it's always been chock full of whingers. If people actually moved away from relying on the home page for new posts, they'd realise that people are still asking questions about Amiga problems and what not and actually getting answers. Sadly there seems to be awful lot of thread hijacking lately, but again, this is nothing new, only now it's people bitching about CUSA instead of the whole Red vs. Blue thing. Yes, it's fun to hijack a thread every now and then, it alleviates monotony of this place, but FFS it is getting beyond a joke, it seems like some people just like the look of their own ramblings. Unfortunately, for the Amiga community as a whole, it appears that a good percentage of its members are so stuck in the past that even their mentality has failed to mature. Why people can't embrace new ideas and community spirit around these parts it well beyond my comprehension.

The site always attempted to be lax in moderation to allow openness and tolerance of all viewpoints. What happened is a couple of soft trolls hell bent on creating mayhem. These soft trolls played victim and actually got a small group of users fell for the act and became fanboys of the trolls.

What happened to Darrin? I can't believe you even asked that, it's in the banner you quoted! :roflmao:

What's has happened to you? I sort of noticed you changed colour?

Spot on. 3 or 4 idiots have dragged the entire community into a civil war. If only they kept it all in PM's :(

So you are not interested in a product and Darrin is not interested in a product so god help anyone who is not uber-negative? I hope for the sake of pimple faced teenagers in your area that you do not dislike McDonalds.

Yes I did, but you are 9 years too new to know the history. I was an AmigaOne/OS4 fanboy from ~2000-2002 defending it with religious fervor.  When I opened my mind and bought a Pegasos I (with cash) for MorphOS in 2003 I was blasted as a traitor. I was told that I was a Bill Buck lapdog and a Genesi employee.

Gee, funny how 2003 is repeating itself in a worse way. I haven't even bought a product!

Jim, I've been wondering the same thing about you, seriously.  I'd still trust you with my wallet, but there are some severe double-standards here at the moment.

To quote Michelle from 'Allo, Allo', listen carefully, I will say this only once (mind you, it sounds sexier with her fake-French accent):

It isn't that I'm not interested in the product.  They could make a zillion different Commodore items and I would purchase the ones that would appeal to me.  It is purely the bastardiszing of the Amiga name which is still an active product (even if it is to a minority) by hijacking the name and putting it on totally un-related products.  Add to that the rather nasty attitude of Barry and the spamming of the site with multiple threads when a single one constantly being updated would be enough...

Commodore always made diverse products, be it calculators or various genres of computers.  This isn't about that.

Well we have Franko banned for threading behaviour and yet Barry can issue a "tell me who you are and I'll kick your ass" statement and he goes unmoderated.

Care to ban Barry for life too?

I guess you mean OS4? I have not seen any attempt by CUSA to shut down Hyperion/Acube/A-Eon.

Unrelated? The C64x is a dead ringer visually for a C64 and AFAIK will eventually come with a custom distro that includes compatibility layer. Commodore 8bit forums are generally mildly positive or apathetic

The plans for the Amiga is not even finalized or at least not publicized. It is my understand that at the very least a comparability will be added to the distro.

You know that I was pretty harsh on CUSA initially. Some of it was valid IMO, they made some misteps. Barry admitted to me he made some missteps. But there was also slander/libel. Looking back the crap thrown at him was extreme. How would you react to be called a "con artist" or "scammer"? I can relate, I have been called the same things.

So why feel so threatened? You have implied some pretty harsh things Darrin and you were comfortable with the libel being thrown at me. I really don't get it.

You will have to ask someone else to help you with that. I have never handed down a permanent ban and couldn't even try if I wanted to.

OS4 and classic hardware that is still being produced.  Not to mention projects that have true Amiga relevance such as the FPGA Arcade and Natami.

Sure CUSA haven't tried to shut them donw, but they did (and still are) attempting to confuse the market and undermine the products.  Even a blind man couldn't miss that.

I've nothing against the C64x apart from it being unfinished and that god-awful keyboard.

Time for Barry to wake up and drop the "Amiga" name from products that are not "Amiga" then.

I can't understand why he just didn't market Commodore PCs with a general emulation package to cover previous Commodore machines and leave it at that.  Calling these machines "Amiga" was the idea of a fuckwit and designed to provoke a response.  Well, he got it and now he's throwing tantrums in the corner because he can't buy everyone.

I'd like to say that he could learn from his mistakes and that he wants to do good, but I get the distinct feeling that he was just blowing smoke up your ass and telling you what you wanted to hear.  He's most likely manipulating you because if he really did believe he had made mistakes then he would be on here issuing an apology and clearly stating his new business goals instead of issue threats he can't deliver.

Generals don't physically fight wars, they just order their troops to do it from the comfort of their armchairs.

Regardless of whether one of Barry's lackies started a thread or not, why are they not just merged as many forums tend to do with multiple threads on the same subject matter?

Threatened?  Disgusted is the word you should be using.  I pride myself on my ethics and character.  When I see something like this happening under my nose then I feel the need to speak up, even if it is uncomfortable for those involved.  What's worse, I cannot be bought off.

I see you tactically ignored my "banning" comment.  Actions speak a thousand words...

Oh bugger, yes you did!  Sorry.

Well I'm glad it wasn't you and I apologise for thinking it was so.

I still think he was being manipulated and set up for it and WHOEVER it was needs to look at the other camp too.
