Who said the side expansion is limited to 2mb, I have 8mb via a GVP HD8/SCSI card via a Zorro 2 adaptor, very cool.
BTW: Goose, I sent you a PM a while ago... if you ever want to sell some of your internal A1000 stuff (such as your Multistart, AdIDE, etc.), LMK! Here's a linky for 'ya:http://www.students.tut.fi/%7eleinone3/ide/i68k.html
I can't find an email address... Why don't you pursue this guy more Save? Do you have one of these?
Today, I wouldn't even bother with such a scenario. Besides, 2.5mb RAM is plenty on an A1000 with 68000 and no hard drive.
Don't rub it in When I see an AddIDE and an accelerator suitable for 68k slot they will be purchased too CSA style boards never have the RAM board though so waste of money on ebay.9mb is good for Dpaint anim brushes + digitiser
I have a VXL*030 accelerator with 50mhz 030, 25mhz '882, 8mb RAM, and Kickstart 3.1.Drumroll please....It WORKS in the A1000! Thing is, you have to remove the daughterboard and internal floppy. Removing the daughterboard and bending (or snipping) its pins off is NOT something I want to do though to my A1000. Kinda nostalgic about the internal drive too. Sooo... am thinking about selling this to someone that doesn't mind a little hack and slash in their diet.
@Jim "It may not work reliably though, that bus was kinda noisy."Damn it Jim! I have never connected anything more than 2 cards... if he's going to 3, he is going into an unknown territory, the bus might not take that kind of punishment!Let us know if you make it to the other "side" ...
My 1000 had the DKB Kwikstart installed, which included grounding all the PALs. I ran a separate ground wire out into the expansion box. The Box itself was unpowered, but I did install a power supply for the hard drive. This kludgeomatic worked reliably for years.
