AGA is the best thing since... well since OCS... :)

I never owned an AGA machine. When I saw how slow Deluxe Paint was at full collor on the hot new Amiga 1200, I decided to buy an Amiga 3000 instead. It was fine until I needed some UNIX stuff that wouldn´t run on NetBSD on my Amiga. So I bought a PC in 1995 and a Mac in 2000. It took me until 2009 to realize that Amiga is still alive and cool. Now I am using OS4 whenever I am at home.
I would like to use AROS on the road, but I never managed to get it useable on any of my computers. It fails on simple things like networking and screen resolutions, but maybe it´s just me.

Hi,

I use Cloanto's Amiga Forever 2011. Even though I have all my classics set up, I turn them on about once a week in order to keep the batteries charged. Other than that I use a replaceable PC to use as my Amiga.

Just remember (FRANKO) when that old silicon goes, your pal (not video) is gone. I have one dead A500 and one dead A4000 up in the attic. My original A4000 keeps on singing though.  The two dead ones I bought from ebay.

I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

Hi Smerf

No worries about when my silicon goes, got a cupboard full of backups to last me the rest of me lifetime... :)

The ex-wife on the other hand, now she's had problems with her silicon, I always knew there was something dodgy about that plastic surgeon... :D

Cheers

Franko

Got a lot of time to make up for as I didn't post anything for the last 24 hours, I went up into the loft late Monday night and the ladder fell away and I couldn't get back out again (me swollen feet prevented me from jumping down)... :(

Only got out this morning when the postman heard me cries for help and put the ladder back up... :)

Still I found a lot of interesting old stuff up there amongst the dead bodies that I'd forgot about (got a bit scary though when me flashlight went out). I'd recommend a a 24 hour stint in a loft to everyone, it's quite an experience... :)

I picked the silence Franko.  Knew something was wrong.  I think I even posted as such somewhere yesterday. You could use A.Org as your 24 hour monitoring station.  You should post a next of kin phone number in your profile so when your away for 24 hours we can call them and let em know somethings wrong.

BTW:Classic's rool of course.

You kidding, if any of me family knew I was stuck up in the loft the buggers would come in and break the ladder then nick all me Amiga's & SNES RPG Games to flog on eBay... :furious:

It was quite good up there though, found an old VIC20 and some cartridges I'd forgotten about but best of all I found this really cool solid silver teaspoon that I never even knew about, it's shiney... :)

(PS:thinking of venturing up there again soon but this time I'll pack some sandwiches & a flask of tea, oh and some extra batteries for me torch, got pretty dark up there when they ran out and I want to check out what's behind what seems a freshly bricked up wall that I spotted... :))

Nope, I love my Amithlon machine. As I said in my response this should be a multi selection poll. I use my classic, amithlon and aros, plus also use uae on aros, amithlon and my classic. There's no way for me to vote accurately here.

Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

With AROS Kickstart replacement phaseII bounty reaching completion... Classic users will inevitably become AROS users in time ;)

Resistance is futile... prepare to be assimilated!

There are enough parts in the pipeline to fix these "OLD" amiga's for 20 more years at least. Not to mention any decent amiga user has spare parts on hand.
This is a silly myth perpetuated by people who are scared of hardware, can't read or are just plain scared of tools i suspect  :D

I've rebuilt about 20 machines and put them back into the world in the last 2 years myself.
Many of the problems are trivial. Some are truly dead and become parts boards.

i would say the only really hard to find part is DMAC4,and most machines run fine on Dmac2
