I'm shocked at how slow the icons and gadgets are drawn to the screen!

I'm not impressed at all.

It looks indeed very fast. Just have to wait for the released version to check on 300+ MHz :D
It really sux though that still it doesn't support BPPC's SCSI... Oh well... better than 4.x though anyway.

Are you conscious that is running on a sub 300 MHZ (pentium I like performance) CPU?

Looks usable, probably more than I'd expect to see from a ~200MHz system.

Looks very quick for me, especially when you consider:
CS-PPC is 233MHz - that's a Pentium class.
No L2 cache - that makes a large difference
These icons are not the same icons as you had on WB 2.0! They're full colour ones.

Very good work, if you ask me.

Hmm... I don't get what all you guys are getting excited about here, for one thing it's running on a PPC604 & Radeon GFX card of some kind...

Now my BlizzardPPC is only a 603 and I have no GFX card, so just how many of you guys are using a 604 PPC and Radeon GFX card on your A1200s, and how many folk out there have such a set up to run this on, not many I would think.

Wonder how many copies Hyperion expect to sell !!!

Methinks you'll be sorely disappointed if you see it running on a 603 & no GFX card just like OS4.0 was disappointing on such a set up... :(

Hiya Franko, Sorry that your experience of OS4 was disappointing as you were lacking a GFX card :(

It looked like OS4.1 would never be released for the Classic and it's been over 3 years now since I was able to buy OS4.0 in December of 2007, so it's quite easy to get excited when seeing screenshots and a YouTube video of OS4.1 running on an A4000 :)

I'm using an A4000 with CSPPC 604e at 233Mhz. The Radeon card looks really great but to use one I would also need a Mediator PCI 4000Di daughterboard replacement shown here.........

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=517

But I think it safe to assume that OS4.1 would support cards like the Picasso IV and Cybervision 64/3D which are supported with my current OS4.0 Classic :)

OS 4 was never meant for running without a graphics card...
I'll probably keep my Voodoo III rather than the Radeon because I want to use 3.9 sometimes too.

Seriously though, if you want to run OS 4 at its best you need a graphics card: remember OS4 dates from a few years or so ago, your A1200 has a graphics chipset that was slow 18 years ago!

The speed comes from the Radeon 9250, not the CS PPC.
Which means you have to add a Prometheus board or Mediator board and that means going towered, cool by me, but some might say: Yuk! :)
