It's hardly what I call a classic set up for most owners...
It was the same when I purchased OS4.0 when it first came out, no mention of it requiring a GFX card being a requirement, in fact looking at the original box I have sitting right beside me, the only thing it says on the box are the words "3D graphics cards"
Nothing about you requiring or needing a GFX card and if I recall correctly when it was first launched there was nothing on Hyperions website informing the buyer of this either.
Hopefully if you have a set up that will run this latest version all will be well and good for you. I just hope Hyperion doesn't leave folks who buy it in the lurch again like they did with OS4.0 (1 update then all support dropped) also as I say It's not exactly a Classic set up that most Amiga users would own...
Good god franko, everyone should of had a gfx card for their amiga's in the 90's already.I mean if you do anything in 24bit or so,its almost a must have(if you don't want to wait a day). I think it seems ridiculous for the OS to run forever on plain aga, since you cant progress very far on it. Gfx. cards have been around for eons on amiga's. Get with the program old buddy
Why would you accelerate your machine with a PPC card then cripple it with lack of a gfx card. makes no sense.
Just FYI,os4 ran just fine on my csppc/mediator.. its quite quick and snappy. If your going to buy slower hardware(1200/603/aga)with little to no expansion bus, then your going to get the results to match....not that any amiga is fast.Always cracks me up to see people buy a ppc card, then run off the stock, slow ide.
Lets face it,OS4.0 was just something to sell to us amiga users to generate money for their other ports. I figured we would never see 4.1 for our classic machines.Although 4.1 will soon? run on our classics, many apps will not be useable since they are bloated and coded for stuff like sam,a1,peg,etc with fast processors and alot of ram.
send your ppc off to stan for a tuneup,he'll crank it up
