It would be cool if someone used the executor sources to build a toolbox layer in AROS 68k so that classic macintosh applications would run inside wanderer, sort of like wine does with windows. I suppose the same could be done with GEM, but someone has already said that TOS applications aren't that interesting (albeit I have heard that atari st music apps were the rage back in the day).

ARM is lovely (With a fascinating history, hats off to Rodger/Sophie Wilson)... I can't wait until they get their HPC designs together... intel and AMD are gonna suffer big! :p

@bloodline, do you have any recommended sources of some good info where I could better acquaint myself with the ARM?

Thanks,
AmigaEd
To get started, I bought the ARM mBed board. that was a great choice as it gave me quick and easy access to a real chip with a full development environment.

A good book like the one Nicholas suggested is a good idea!

@dammy ;)

ARM and Amiga, the perfect match in my opinion. If we were to go in any new direction, that's the one i'd want to go in.
Maybe AROS for Archimedes?

Provided that AROS use a memory model similar to that of AmigaOS (which it does afaik), it should be possible to use Basilisk 2.

Now, for the second part, it seems you've missed the point. Porting AROS to the TOS/Atari platform means you can run AROS on it. That could be useful, since there are some nice accellerators and clones for this platform (most notably 100MHz 060 accellerators for the Falcon). Wether or not TOS applications suck has nothing to do with that, since you don't use AROS to run them. You run AROS/Amiga applications on AROS.

I still haven't managed to get that Atari ST working... It powers up fine, but I'm not having much luck sourcing a video lead or mouse... I would love to see AROS on this thing :)

Do you have an old Amiga mouse?

Some of them had switches to let them work on an ST.

I used to have an old Squick mouse that had the switch, but I sold it (19) years ago :)

I'm not going to spend any money so I need freebees ;)

I have one Amiga mouse but it doesn't have a switch mate.

Perhaps AmigaKit.com would like to become a corporate sponsor of AROS by providing you with such a device? ;)

I just was thinking, if aros for 68k amiga was made to work, dosn't that mean aros for atari and 68k mac could be next?

That would be kinda cool because the st's are pretty nice machines if you get rid of the absolutely horrid OS. 68k macs are okay I suppose... But I'd be more excited to see aros for atari st's.

I would think atari fans would be too, mint and all the atari st os projects...Well they kind of blow. There are some nice sound and graphics programs for st though...

Why not just use AROS x86 on a x86 MAC  -- I mean, why settle for anm old G4 MAC when you can power up a cheap iMac x86 which looks way cooler :-)

The topic is 68k AROS not PPC.

But G4 Macs are PPC so you confused my little brain! :)

AROS running on 68k Macs and Ataris would be cool just for the sake of it and would bring new life to old unused machines.  It might even bring new coders to our scene if we are lucky too.

AROS x86 already run just fine on x86 Macs... So that not a challenge. What is interesting here is to see how An AmigaOS would run on 68k machine that were around at the time of the Amiga.
