A CD32 is the best Game Console that a Classic Amiga can emulate. :)

Sort of surprised nobody has mentioned it but there is FPSE...

I'm not sure, but don't you need a gfx card to run that... :confused:

interesting question but I think you have to narrow it down some, because of the different ways of emulation;

mame-type: complete disconnect from hardware, can run anything on anything but costly in resources. (I remember running a 4MHz z80 game on A1200 28MHz at around 1-2 fps)

wine/shapeshifter type: can run at full speed (probably need MMU) but must be same cpu.

mix (psx emulators etc.): full cpu emulation while passing things like 3d functions to a 3d card.

Sure, but then again, you need a graphics card to do many interesting things on an Amiga that aren't really feasible on planar screens.

Emulating highcolour screens on AGA is extremely difficult. I've seen it done, of course, the SavageAGA EVD for ShapeShifter was capable of 15-bit RGB emulation via HAM, but it was pretty slow in all but the lowest resolutions.

Installing a graphics card actually made more difference to the everyday use and performance of my A1200 than the PPC card did.

If that's your configuration, and you don't already have one, you really ought should consider getting an RTG solution for it...

 I think you didn't understand what i mean by "please be realistic" or perhaps you are just kidding? :D

 I'm interested in any decent game machine that a classic Amiga is able to emulate at a reasonable speed.

 This means no Atari2600 (too primitive) and no Playstation (too slow) emulators.

What's unrealistic about it? RTG? Amigas have been able to use 3rd party display cards, one way or another, since the A2000 days. Since OS3.1, RTG compatibility has been considered a feature that any well-behaved OS friendly application should be capable of supporting.

Well, the PS1 was considered decent in it's day. Not every game is going to run at full speed but FPSE runs respectably on classic PPC+RTG for many titles.

 It does?! My apologies. A playstation is definitely decent. My Amiga 1200 is PPC+RTG and i always thought that even with this setup, she is too slow to emulate a Playstation. I'm off to try some games then. Any suggestions?

R-Type Delta, Space Invaders and WipEout would be the best PS1 games.

IMHO, a superb question. Have we got any good 3DO or Saturn emulations?
