Alright, I'm in business, except that D2A's patch says "No matching patches." when I run it, and the icons at the top of my directory listings are missing for some reason.

Also when I right click on a listing, it now scrolls down instead of bringing up the list of options like it did under AmiKit.

Last but not least, when I have a lister open and swtich to Icon mode, I  see PNG images icons again and can not gain acess to directories until I view the directory listing by name.

Correction: The ambient icons do not display correctly in the Dopus lister, but I can use them. What they display instead of what they are supposed to is a box that says Ambient PNG.

Is there a way to correct this, or something I've overlooked?

PNG icons can't be read by the usual call to icon.library that Magellan is using, so it displays this "PNG" text instead.

IIRC there were some 3rd party patches to the 68k icon.library that allow magellan to display PNG icons, but i would definitely avoid that, since it could easily cause some conflicts or instability or whatever.

I'd suggest to use Magellan mainly in lister mode, which is where it's the most efficient, anyway, but that's just my usage pattern, here. :)

I'd be interested in looking at these 3rd party patches...

...if anything goes wrong, I'm sure I can undo it. Otherwise I'm starting to feel as if I should be content with Opus 4.

Still no icons at the top of my lister. I checked to make sure the directory locations were correctly pointing to the icons, and all was well. Not sure what's up. Might I need to install NewIcons in MorphOS?

I don't think you should install anything. When you are editing the lister toolbar and on "Image" line where path is defined, if you click the drawer icon to open file requester, does it go to correct place and what happens if you reselect the wanted icon image?

And as you talk about NewIcons... do you have Dopus setting Environment->Icon display->Enable newicons set? I don't think it has anything to do this, but just in case.

Check Environment->Lister Options->Name Mode PopUp.

I never use dopus listers in icon mode anyway ;) You can execute programs in icon mode with qualifier key from name mode, so you don't have to switch the mode for that either.

But I have also made a button in my dopus lister toolbar which opens current directory in icon mode in Ambient window. I guess that could be useful for you too for viewing all icons. Add a button to your toolbar with function: open {s}

1. Yes, when I goto select an Icon for the Lister Tool Bar it goes directly to the correct directory. I did my work in User-Starup. ;)

2. Name Mode PopUp did the trick, thankx!

3. I'll try that as soon as I get my Lister Tool Bar Icons working. :)

Hmmm... weird. I found some icons which don't work properly... interesting, this needs more digging :P

1st, I'm using iff images on toolbar icons and they work fine. 2nd, I started to test some other icons and found that about half of the icons in OpusGIbar3 collection don't work on Magellan and also not in the Ambient's filerequester, but interestingly they do work in Ambient lister. On OpusGIbar4 collection they all do work everywhere, even the same icons which are problematic in version 3. They do have different size than earlier, so there have been changes. Were they somehow broken in earlier collection? Do you happen to have similar icons? Do they work on real Amiga? Lets try to find out :)

I'm waiting on my friend to drop off the other piece to my computer desk so I can set my 1200 and 600 back up, then I'll be able to test those icons on the real deal.

In the mean time, care to compress and upload your dopus iff icons for me to test on here? :)

Piru, Do you know what PPC and RTG games that works on MorphOS?

I have allways wanted to try:
Exodus: The Last War
Napalm

Also I have Payback for both GP2X and GBA original ofcourse, but as ive heard it's quite hard to get it to run on MorphOS? I could allways dump my GBA cartidge and try on a GBA emulator but I doubt it would work at all. Else since I have OSX dualbooted I could buy it for OSX but I want to buy the Amiga version and run it in MorphOS if possible!

If I could locate my copy of Payback, I'd let you know.

You can more than likely emulate the GBA version, but it will not look as good on a big screen.

Thanks, tho as far as I have heard not many GBA emulators can emulate it properly and it's just a temp solution if Papyback for Amiga do not run yet.

Visual Boy Advance should play it, at least every port of it I've ever used did, though I've not messed with the MorphOS port yet since it lacks a GUI.

Payback worked fine on MorphOS 1.4.x, using the 68k exe. I see no reason why it shouldn't work on 2.x. Just like the other PPC games I played on MorphOS: Shogo, Heretic II, Freespace and Wipeout.

@Tempest: How did you get the in game sound to work in Shogo?!

It's been a while since I last used MorphOS, as far as I remember I didn't do anything special. It just worked.

Very inspiring thread, decided to go hunt for emac myself, found a 45 euro emac but it was not the 1.25 Ghz model :(

Maybe tomorrow...
