@ The Goose: Yes, West World!!!!

I just watched that again a couple months ago, then watched Future World again last week.

Sadly, they are going to remake West World and destroy it like nearly everything else they've remade, but the classics were amazing and I can't help but coming back to them (even if TV and Movies do dumb me down.) :)

In regards to the effects, I LOVE old effects. I much prefer them to today's video game graphics, especially in Horror movies. Squib effects I can live with, but everything else should be built with care and time through imagination and a steady hand.

Besides it seems that modern films are loosing much because of effects. Too much eye candy and not enough raw acting and character development. The art of story telling is dying, and sadly this trend is finding it's way into books as ironic as that may sound.

Though on the other hand, it is always nice to see some Amiga generated effects from time to time. They have their place.

I've found that most of the best series have to be seen beginning to end in order. I missed too much of the new bg series, but I'm keeping up on Caprica on syfy. I missed a lot of b5 I wanted to get all of it on dvd but haven't yet. Farscape is another good one.

oh no americans don't get irony at all

I loved BB5, only real dissapointment was series 5 (because the story was compressed into 4).
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

Nice Ports on AmiNet!

For the note, I'm American (part Cherokee part Shawnee even) and I get irony. ;)

Sadly, yes, a lot of people don't, and a lot of good comedy gets destroyed when we stop and explain that we were "only joking".

You should watch the original Battlestar Galactica.  It's far funnier....

Interestingly enough, I was turned off by the effects, when the series aired the first time. I guess it was because I wasn´t used to CGI on TV in the day and expected space to look a bit more calm and grey. So I din`t watch "Bab5".

Just recently my wife and I bought season one on DVD and we really enjoy watching it. The great soundtrack by Chris Franke of Tangerine Dream fame puts me into the right mood and the CGI is actually quite impressive!

I guess we are in for another round, if we completed watching season one.

I think B5 is one of the most important EPIC SCI-FI's of all time!  Yes its a slow start but it just gets better and better with each season.   Actually I was shocked when some ppl mentioned they didnt like it, but I figured they may believe to a previous generation which is highlighted by the 70's SCI-FI's mentioned..

I haven't enjoyed a TV Series as EPIC as B5 until the new Battelstar Galactica TV Series.

The special effects, yes are outdated today but when I first watched it on tv in the early 90's when I was growing up with my Amiga I couldn't believe the caliber GFX.. At that time I would be hooked on any TV shows with rendered GFX, like the cartoon series REBOOT.

For its day the GFX where amazing, well okay first season looks cheesy now but later seasons still satisfy me today.

So if you enjoy SCI-FI immensely then YES watch B5!

Ok for me what comes to mind as worse SCI-FI, it would have to be Andromeda. I never understood that show with ummm Hercules.  (;

Yeah, the wife and I are sufferring withdrawl from having recently finished B5 on DVD.
We're getting to the last of the movies now. We just watched the set-up movie for "Crusade" which was a B5 spin-off, and plan to start watching that too. Pity Crusade only got picked up for one season, if only because they never finished their mission.
G-Kar and Londo were the best characters in B5 and they both grew immensely by the end. Sadly G-Kar and the guy who played the Doctor passed away.

There are sooo many great moments in B5. Some of the episodes are either set in the future, some from the point of view of the press, and even one centred around the maintenance workers observing all the things going on. Very interesting story-telling.

B5 is very similar to StarTrek Deep Space 9 in setting, which we're also in the middle of watching(me for the second time). You can *almost* switch the races, locations and characters with eachother and have the same plot. Nothing wrong with that.

Once you've finished B5 you must watch "StarWreck: In the Pirkining", a fan-made comedy which mixes StarTrek and B5. Absolutely hilarious, and it has great special effects. The translations are also very amusing.

B5 is indeed one of the best scifi series ever. As said before, season 1 is a little slow but starting with season 2 it ramps up very nicely to culminate in a great season 3 and 4, with season 5 stil, highly enjoyable. Very strong story.

Up until the remake (ok, 're-imaginining') of Battlestar Galactica, it was my favorite scifi series.

I have been going seriously into the depths of Netflix. Watched all of Battle Star Galactica and recently caught up with Lost. Then I saw the B5 stuff. 5 seasons of this stuff and some Hugo awards, and oh ah, the Amiga connection.

At the time I just thought "oh, ghetto star trek series, click." I love TV series this way, I'm 5-10 years behind but no commercials; which is why I can't watch television - can't take it.

That's like asking if you should eat. You never know if you're going to like it, until you take an interest in it.
