I would like to see a 3." drive fitted as standard.

OMG - noone has been using floppies for more than a decade. Please, let's spend no second thought on this as standard...

If you still need to hook up a disk, why not use the nifty Xena hardware? I'm sure someone will hack up a classic or PC style disk interface (in software) pretty quickly.

eXactly, if you must use one of those horrid things at least do it in a modern way...

The XCore chip that's used on the AmigaOne X1000 lists on DigiKey.com for $5.60 USD in about 600+ unit quantities.  Excellent bang-for-the-buck ratio!

That one really made me laugh!! you are right though, who needs a floppy drive....
Floppy's are old, slow and do not fit much data on it for today's standards.
I like reading Disk images way better for my retro gaming.

About the Hardware, damn what a stunner i like it,want it!
Hope Hyperion has some nice software lined up for it in terms of OS4 supporting the new hardware at full and maybe some nice applications, oh wel we'll see :)

I think it's an achievement in itself that this hardware got produced, hope i can see, touch, feel and play with it soon.

Thank you Hyperion and all the dev's who made this possible.

The toolchain for XCore is based on LLVM (low-level virtual machine).  So brush up on your virtual instruction set at http://www.llvm.org/ !  That way you can write software that will work on either core!

There are USB floppies, is there not? Perhaps ITFYAB? (It's Time For Yet Another Bounty?)

Crikey. Only an Amiga user could demand a "modern" GHz CPU class system with SATA, PCIe and... a floppy disk drive :roflmao:

It was a serious design flaw of the amiga that it wasn't shipped with an integrated tape cassette player...

Well the hardware certainly looks interesting, but I think I'll reserve judgment until a price and supported hardware list is out.

This is from the company that in almost 18 months since OS4 for Sam was released still hasn't released a USB2 driver.
