Well if that doesn't say that Hyperion can do what it likes with AmigaOS 3.1, Amiga OS 4, 5, 6, 7 etc etc now and in the future I don't know what does.  Say it any way you want, Hyperion won.  Whether that will amount to anything for the users remains to be seen.

Yeah, certainly sounds like we could be seeing AmigaOS/Boingball branded anything in the future - all officially sanctioned.

That's great news and about time it happened, not sure what this actually means for OS4 and the Amiga 'brand' going forward but it's got to be better now that AmigaInc aren't involved.

Anyway, great news :)
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

Nice Ports on AmiNet!

Thank f... it's finally over, I so hope that this means the end of Amiga Inc and any involvement in the Amiga platform... I just went to the Amiga.com website for the first time in about 3 years, to see if they had any news about this... nothing of course but damn that website hurts my eyes, truly shocking...

Love the 'customer reviews' though

"i downloaded this game on 12/21/08. even after i bought and downloaded the full version until NOW i could not get the full version to work. i emailed customer support 4x these past two months and had no reply. i asked even for a refund and no reply. what does it take to get help from this company?"
yep, that's our beloved Amiga Inc alright.

Congrats Hyperion.

Excellent! While I don't always agree with Hyperion's design decisions for OS4.x, this is great news for the platform. A major weight has been lifted.

Looks like Amiga Inc still has rights to OS3.0 and below, however, and that could come back to haunt someone in the future. Hopefully they'll just throw in the towel at this point and someone with a vested interest in the community could pick up full rights to the older stuff. Cloanto, maybe?

Hi,

Could anyone at this point tell me exactly what did Hyperion win?

Well from the release, it says a settlement was reached. Lets just hope that Ainc, and specifically silly billy's claws are kept out of os4/5.

They may be paying a percentage of sales to ainc as part of this deal, but I just hope AINC is kept completely out of the development part of AOS.
Hopefully, if they are getting a cut, it will be a small cut so that Hyperion can put all its resources into further developing amiga os.

Sounds like hyperion will have free reign to continue development. I hope so, and I hope silly billy has been bankrupted by the long legal process too. Let him go sell his crappy phone apps at tech fairs, and stop trying
to make a living by killing my favorite computer platform.

Now if we can just get some hardware with modern specs I will happily buy a new amiga system with os4.x. I refuse to spend so much money on a computer with 5 or 10 year old specs, and I suspect alot of people feel exactly the same.

Now that AINC and meddling useless silly billy is hopefully sliced out of the equation, hopefully things can improve for the future of amiga.

I don't want a tip calculator or a snowman maker, I want a new amiga platform thats worth buying and using. AINC is a joke, thankfully Hyperion is here to hopefully save the future for us.

I'm so glad they "won" but because we don't know the exact details of the settlement, its hard to call it a win. For all we know, hyperion has to split all future profits equally with silly billy and the AINC clowns. Lets hope those leeches who deserve nothing don't get too much money riding the backs of hyperion, they don't deserve a dime if you ask me.

Hyperion won because they got what they needed. What we dont know is what the other party got in the settlement so it is probably win-win to both parties and they are friends again.

What great news.  Good to hear that Hyperion, who actually WANTS to develop AOS, got the legal rights to do so.

Because AI still retains ownership, it licensed it to Hyperion.  Now that Hyperion changed it's legal status from VOF to CVBA, you have to wonder if AI/Itec, or it's owners, are now apart of Hyperion.  I would guess that the major Devs who are owed money are also share owners.  Time will tell.

Hyperion has a licence for OS3.1, but it is the sole owner of AmigaOS4.

Truism, I suppose I should have specified I was referring to Amiga Inc IP.  Question is who are the "owers" of this new Hyperion?  AI/Itec got something out of this deal, I do not think that boot has dropped yet.
