It's over, but Hyperion did not win, they settled with Amiga Inc.  So now Hyperion and Amiga Inc are partners.  Now lets see what Hyperion can do to make AOS a modern OS.

Dammy's right.  Notice on http://ftp.hyperion-entertainment.biz/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=1&Itemid=18 that Hyperion Entertainment CVBA has the settlement not Hyperion Entertainment VOF.  Hyperion's under a different legal status.

I don't see anywhere in the announcement that Amiga Inc. is now a partner of Hyperion.  Did I miss something somewhere else?  Also, someone said that they found that the Amiga.com website is up for sale.  I have not yet confirmed this yet though.

It does appear that the matter(s) were settled out of court and though no one Won, or Lost technically, it is pretty clear that Amiga Inc. did not come out on top of this battle.  I am just glad it is over.

How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

How do you figure they didn't win?  Sounds like they did from the press release.  Also, where did you see that they are now partners with Amiga, Inc.?

Within the framework of the settlement agreement Hyperion is granted an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to AmigaOS 3.1 in order to use, develop, modify, commercialize, distribute and market AmigaOS 4.x (and subsequent versions of AmigaOS including without limitation AmigaOS 5) in any form, on any medium and for any current or future hardware platform under the exclusive trademark “AmigaOS” (Amiga operating system) and using other associated trademarks (such as the “BoingBall” logo).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well, Hyperion didn't win.  Nor did AInc, Itec or Amino.

Or, rather, they didn't lose.

So maybe they all won.  And if, collectively, they have decided to concentrate on developing and marketing the Amiga brand and returning Amiga OS in all its forms to the computing mainstream, we might win too.

Fortunately, I've just got a job recently, so I'll be able to afford a decent Amiga.  Here's hoping that Hyperion's most ambitious project to date involves some brand new bleeding edge hardware to run Amiga OS on.

This is the first time I've felt optimistic in years.

Well if that doesn't say that Hyperion can do what it likes with AmigaOS 3.1, Amiga OS 4, 5, 6, 7 etc etc now and in the future I don't know what does.  Say it any way you want, Hyperion won.  Whether that will amount to anything for the users remains to be seen.

Yeah, certainly sounds like we could be seeing AmigaOS/Boingball branded anything in the future - all officially sanctioned.
