You should also keep in mind that sometimes the original inventors of things don't get due credit, because other people (brits) steal them and patent them first :-)

I was wondering if we need to advertise the channel more? Seems many potential #amiga.orgers are blissfully unaware that there even is an IRC channel (it's only been around for 3 years.) Any suggestions?

Anyway, it's a great channel - come check it out. It's the source of much amusement at times. There has been a bit of a lull of late, but I put that down to it being summer - it's been way too nice to stay indoors (even I've been away from the channel a bit more than normal recently.) But autumn approaches and I predict things will soon improve.
