Hi all,

just wondering ... I just upgraded my Amiga 3000 with Superbuster 11, SuperDMAC 04 and Ramsey7 chips.. and now it doesn't boot... it won't even get to the the amiga start screen with the disk animation... if I remove the chips and reinstall the old versions (dmac 02 and ramsey 04) the machine boots normally... so, do you know if there's somethng else I need to do to make it boot? I got the dmac 04 Red and the ramsey 07 from ebay.de.. the chips are suposed to be in GWO. The superbuster woks in an A4000D I have, so that one works for sure...

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Dragster

Maybe one of the chips is dead.  Try each one seperately with the older chips (i.e. SuperDMAC 02 with Ramsey 7, then SuperDMAC 04 with Ramsey 04).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Thanks mate, yeah, I thought of that, however as far as I know, the SuperDMAC 04 and the Ramsey 07 do need each other... i.e. they won't work with other revision chips...

Could anyone confirm this?

Cheers,

OK, I did the test...  Installed the Ramsey 07 with SuperDmac02.. machine boots! SuperDmac04 with Ramsey 04, no boot.. so it looks like the dead one is the SuperDmac04, my god! :-(

I guess I'll have to talk to red about this. Unless the SuperDmac04 won't work with the Ramsey 04...

Did you really think someone was going to sell you a working DMAC -04? ;)

Not only I thought that, but thought of honest people in the Amiga community... I *know* Red is honest... we'll see what can be done about this.

What accelerator are you using? Isn't there some sort of DMAC weirdness associated with the 3640?

Hi Matt,

I'm using no accelerator right now... the machine is running onboard  030@25 Mhz...

Cheers,

@dragster

Isn't there also a different SCSI controller chip required for the R7 and D4 to work properly? I think there might be but can't remember for certain.

Hi RED, Folkz....

ISSUE SOLVED!

After reviewing the chip very carefully, it turns out that one of the chip's pins was slightly bent... and making contact to another one causing probably a short circuit! i fixed that little problem using a flat screwdriver very carefully, reinserted the chip in the socket, started the machine again and voila!!!!!!!! It works now!

Awesome!

Now I've got an A3000 with Ramsey7, SuperDmac 04, Superbuster 11 and WDC -00-8 :D

Thanks everybody.

Cheers

This DMAC -04 chip was pulled from a working A3000T, so it is a but concerning. I am also a bit concerned that this may be the same machine that the Deneb USB sold many months ago on the way back to me for warranty replacement was installed in?

I've got a 3000T set up just like that, but I probably paid less for the whole thing than you did for the DMAC. ;)

Congrats on getting yours going.  These Amigas are nothing but headaches sometimes.
