Posiblities: VmwAROS = AROS for VMware RmwAROS = AROS for Real Machines = Native AROS RmwAROS = Real Machine With AROS WinAROS = AROS for MS Windows = "VmwAROS Live!" or maybe "WinAROS Live!"

Are you kidding, or do you REALLY believe this mess would simplfy things?

Ok, so if one were to describe "VmwAROS Live!" as "VmwAROS for Microsoft Windows" then that would be 100% accurate?

I don't see the point in a similar description, since on VmwAROS website first lines says:

"VmwAROS is a pre-configured AROS desktop envirnoment available in two formats: a bootable live-DVD installable on the hard drive, and a disk image for VMware."

and short description for VmwAROS Live! is:

"The VmwAROS desktop environment on a bootable live-DVD, which runs directly on your PC."

I suppose people should at least inform themselves BEFORE trying to describe something, or not?

i could care less about the name as long it got aros in it...

the one thing that is important for me is the integration of that emulator, i have been waiting since the beginning of aros. to run 68k appz as native. without starting an emulator and setting it up and then install the 68k app and running it, running apps in an emulator windows just dont do it. i want to just click an icon i have on my desktop and the app start without any interference of that damn emulator.

when that is possible i will start playing with aros.... the next step is to get a good web browser, then i will start using on regular basis and not just for the regular fix for old 68k appz and games..

Shame he couldn't acknowledge it here.

Think I'll give this distro a miss.

You did a fantastic job by finding this outdated line of text. Does that make you feel better?

I don't understand why you have this attitude against Paolone. He put a lot of work into it in return and he gets the heat for what ?? A name, sheesh ! :roll:
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

@Manu

Yeah, he's doing an outstanding job and any name changes to the Live or VM versions of AROS would just muck things up.  He's just finding out as I did, that there are trolls on this board who do nothing but lie in wait to attack and criticize others.

@ferrellsl

You better not be referring to me.  I don't post much, but you'll struggle to find anything remotely trollish in any of my postings.

I saw someone react in an oversenstive manner to what I saw was constructive critiscism.  Perhaps it could have been worded better, but I understood his point.

Paolone may be happy with his thousands of downloads and I have thanked him for his work, but for him simply to dismiss any criticism could mean that his distro is not maximising it's potential.

For example I told loads of people about AROS Max when it was doing the rounds and handed out CDs to people to try.  I have not done this with this distro as I was unaware it was a live distro.  That may have been my bad, but the name hasn't help in this case.

For you to come out and say people are trolling is totally misconstruing the situation and is trollish in itself.

It is up to paolone to decide what to do and I respect that.  He is well capable of defending himself as he has demonstrated here, so how about just crawling back under your stone?

I only mentioned the CD/DVD thing because of Paolone's one line answer.  I pointed out I read his website and it didn't clarify everything.

Unluckily AROS system files are still far from perfect, but maybe you can help us fixing them by posting your problem to the bugtracker on www.aros.org. Provide all informations you can, like hardware configuration and a verbose description of the issue, maybe try to choose a VGA 640x480 mode, which would give you some more system messages.

@Paulone
If you stop providing vmwaros the difficulty for someone new testing it would be much harder. Vmwaros is very much needed and very much appreciated.

@A1260
There will probably be integration before summer. One of the expert programmers is working on that.

About names:
Isn’t the most important thing that it’s called LIVE since live usually means a bootable cd/dvd that’s installable natively, for millions in linux world?
Vmwaros live is:
1. Bootable from a burned dvd
2. Natively installable on hard disk from the same burned DVD, (the most important thing)
3. And as an extra feature, The iso could also be booted directly in Windows with qemu for a sneek peek. (thats what the exe is for.)
That’s more than you usually gets then something is called LIVE.

@hooligan
I earlier run the vmwaros VE 1.0 (for vmplayer) in the P4 2.6ghz. And sometimes I get this invisible box effect right after start. I used to solve that by moving the pointer to the top of the screen, and that released the box effect and the pointer could move over the whole screen. Perhaps this helps.

Thanks to the aros team for making Aros and thanks for vmwaros.

It doesn't work(tried NVIDIA, VESA) on my Intel SantaRosa based ASUS G1S laptop. It works(via VESA) on the old MSI 635 laptop.
