New Mirror: Big Book of Amiga Hardware
« on: August 15, 2008, 05:44:36 AM »
The Big Book of Amiga Hardware is now available at 2 domains.

www.bboah.de

www.bboah.com

The .com domain has the old "Ian-Chapman-Design" and is a fully featured mirror on another server. If one server will be offline you can use the other. Both domains will be updated with a few hours difference.

Ian Chapman's Site http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ is still available but not up to date.

Contributions and info's about Amiga-Hardware are welcome and can be submitted to bboah@amiga-resistance.info.

>>>why not keep .de version german only and the .com english? <<<

Hello,
I had the same Idea when I started hosting the BBoAH. But for me its hard to work on the scripts as I am not so good doing something with PERL and Databases. :getmad:
Give me some time and I will do my best.  :-)

What about something like building the BBOAH into the exotica wiki ? that way the information can be editable by all ? It is certainly something I would like to do, if you would give me permission.

Hi,
you do not need any permission by me.  :-)

As you can see there the BBoAH belongs to all of us. If you want to work with a WIKI style BBoAH you should visit this site:

Mario is still working at a BBoAH WIKI.

I kind of like my wiki though! :) Also, having yet another mediwiki wiki with the standard wiki design is not very exciting. I guess everyone  (including myself to a certain degee) wants to do their own project rather than combining efforts.

Now i worked out how to find the category on that site i see a lot of work has been done. How about making english the default language ?

Any chance you can dual license the contents under the Gnu free documentation license also ?

@ buzz

Have you seen this Wiki Site with IBrowse for 68k?  :-D

Seems to me that a lot of work has to be done to make the site compatible with old Amiga browsers.

For all your other questions contact Mario as I'm not involved in this Wiki. I think he would be happy if there will be serious help. :-)

I tend to use modern browser for browsing. I no longer wish to hack/code websites to work with HTML3. It is too much work, and ugly. I think most Amiga 68k users also don't primarily use their Amiga for webbrowsing, and if they do, then they are quite insane!

I really don't have time to help on another wiki though I'm afraid. I have little time for exotica as it is.

As you got control of the site before, it would be possible for you to dual license it at that point which would be helpful though to be. Something you can do ?

What do you mean by compatible ? If you mean look exactly how it looks on other browsers I disagree. a css based site will work on amiga browsers, it will just look very plain.

Making websites to HTML3 is just a bad idea. There are also far more interesting things to do on a 68k amiga than use it as a main internet machine for browsing (you must be very patient!)

I think its better to start from scratch again.

People have mentioned errors arround BBoAH here and there, and I think many images are not so good.

If someone creates a new defacto BBoAH I think many people will want to submit new high quality pictures and in a Wiki it will be easier to update information.

WTF is this a new trend, making sites or complete web-projects to work 100% in Amiga browsers without CSS?  :-?

Last week I observed a similar project, a community aimed to work 100% in Amiga browsers. I have to agree fully here, spend your time better than to aim for 100% browser quality on 68k Amiga.
