In this case it means no more bug fixes or changes and the ISO have been send to the duplicators :)

@InTheSand

I dident say it was bug free, just that time was up and the were not more time for Bug fixes if they wanted to keep the dead line.

An Operation System is never finshed but you got to release at some point. So when there are no more Show stoppers in the Bugzilla database then its a good time to release it.

This is great news. Given all the stick Hyperion have got over the years, I think it's only fair that they are congratulated for finally getting this done.

Now, who wants to give me a CSPPC? ;-)

I think that means that the code is now completely finished and that the master cd or whatever is about to be duplicated into consumer cds.

Usually, going "Gold" means you have reached a certain number of sold units (half a million?).

In AmigaLand, it means announcing that your product is nearly released.  :roll:

(Yes, I know about the so-called "Gold Master", but I'm not aware of anyone else announcing making one. Most people just announce the release.)

As for the actual product itself, excuse me if I don't wet my pants in excitement. Five years ago it might have mattered, but now?...

Actually, it might have bumped up the ridiculously inflated value of my mothballed A4000, assuming it still works, but aside from that it doesn't really matter in the greater scheme of things any more, which is meagre return for six years of promises and aloof arrogance from the Hyperion boys.

I can't believe people are having a court case over something that simply doesn't matter any more.

Going gold is a pretty standard phrase in the software industry, moreso with games, though. Blizzard (used to) use it all the time for their impending releases.

I think it's only the music industry that uses it to chart number of sales.
