@keropi

Both Mediator 1200 & 4000 use the DMA trick. It does mean that if you use the native OS4 mediator support, it limits the cards you can use (10mbit realtek card instead of 100mbit for example. Not that the 100mbit card ever went much faster than 10mbit in a mediator anyway).

However, if you want, you can remove the native drivers for the cards in your mediator and still use Elboxes 68k drivers. They even work with the native Picasso96.

"Classic Amiga"? Please cant we stop using this lame "Classic Amiga" term coined by Amiga Inc?

Amiga sounds much better.

Now we just need to find a way to strap an old PPC board on a Minimig. ;)

Since the original Amiga 68K CPU is disabled by OS 4.0, could a PPC CPU be put on the Minimig. Yeah, I know too easy to simply work. We can dream...

My only real concern is having to buy one of these cards of eBay just to run OS4.

I've heard of them dying, failing, overheating etc.

It's not like Blizzard and Cyberstorm are new/guaranteed hardware.

It just feels a bit risky, having never owned one before.

How old are these PPC things again?

No one has even bothered to wait for a official announcement before getting excited. Amiga Inc are not going to let this happen, that is why hyperion have used a lap dog/mug/fall guy (etc) to spread the news instead of them direct.

Makes you wonder if their real intentions are out to scam amiga inc.

I can understand the skepticism, but be aware that we (the betatesting team) are in the process of thoroughly testing the installation CD right now, and have been for a while, so they do seem to be preparing for a release, not just making announcements.
