First Duke Nukem 3D WarpOS port
« on: July 30, 2003, 12:46:16 PM »
Hi all.

Just uploaded on my S I T E a first quick Duke Nukem 3D WarpOS port.
It's untested, unoptimized and without sound support.
There isn't 3D acceleration yet.

To test it, increase your shell stack size to 16384 and your partition buffer to 2000.

To install it, just follow the instructions found on the original 68k port from Dante/Oxyron.

When reporting bugs report, please include as many as possible informations, and don't a simple "here it doesn't work" ;-)

Please send any bugs report to: glquake@libero.it

Ciao

As I said on a m i g a w o r l d . n e t, you don't need an *installed* version at all. Simply copy the contents of "ATOMIC15:ATOMINST/" to the place where you want to install Duke3D, then install the amiga version over that. Also, make sure when editing the duke3d.cfg that you save it in DOS text format (CR+LF).

Edit:
@Moderators

I can't believe a m i g a w o r l d . n e t gets censored out like a swearword... isn't that a bit childish?

-Edit- HAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha  :-P

-Edit2-  it's extremely childish, but hell gave me a laugh.
Note: if you see ####, then it's probably a ref to the "official" amiga portal....

Hi guys,

I just sent the following email to Massimiliano explaining a problem I encountered with level 2, and I'm just curious whether anyone else has experienced the same thing or not.

==========

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know I tried out your port, and it looks great, and is very fast compared to the 68k version.

I did however run into a problem on the second level. The first level played fine, and I was averaging about 20fps at 640x400.

The second level however did not play fine. When you start the second level, you start in the bottom of a vent or elevator shaft, and as you exit the shaft (into an open area, like a parking lot or something like that) there is a bad guy flying around in a plane. I don't know if it is caused by the plane or what, but my frame
rate dropped to about 4 fps, and the game suddenly became totally unplayable. As soon as I stepped out into the open, I was dead before I even knew what was going on.

Just thought I'd let you know that although there were no crashes or anything like that, all of a sudden the game runs into real problems.

Cheers,

As for word filter? You got me, but i guess it could have been done.

-edit- I see it is. Oh well, can't say I am surprised. Brought it upon themselves.

Yep, it does. Unless you are completely arrogant and holding your hands over your ears and shouting lalalalalalalala at the top of your voice you must have heard the comments - and its not just "bitter people".

Yeah, right. Nice to see Amiga.org moderators occupy the moral highground.

I could say the exact same thing about what people say about aw.net, but I won't.

Of course, and mayhaps they have a point. I have been strident in my comments about #### in the past and will continue in the future.

At least I can type in:

amiga.org
morphos
etc

....without it blanking it out.

Issues with moderation we can deal with, individually.

Hi

Just as I told you on the email, and as a suggestion to others as well, when someone encounter a similar problem, please send me a saved game of the level, this way I can test it on my setup.

@DaveP

I have no idea why it is now filtered out, however considering my personal issues with them in the past I am inclined to give my fellow moderators the benefit of doubt. I'm sure there was a reason.

-edit- Let me make myself clear though, my issues are past tense. I have no problems with most of the users of that website, I have met some of them personally and think very highly.
