New Screenshots of OS4

The first new screenshots of AmigaOS4 are available.

Check them out at the AmigaOS Website.

Amigaworld.net seems to have crashed due to all the traffic.

Oh wow! That is gorgeous! IMHO, that is a fantastic look, and is WAY better than the default OS X or WinXP theme, IMHO!

(and no, thats not just butt-kissing, thats my genuine reaction.)

I'm so relieved that the default look is still very Amiga, yet.. just... NICE!

I like it :-) but I`d prefer the colours and buttons of this mock up.

I`m glad that our gadgets close, resize and depth are still the Amiga style ;-) (I like how they look in the active win)

Is it possible that we will see rounded glowing windows someday on our beloved OS?

I can`t wait to see more pictures :-D More input please :P feed us!!

(doh there are more than one :P I didn`t notice it at once. The screen bar should be by def white, we know that it can change but white is more beautiful, and we shouldn`t have the same colour dominate everywhere, you should put and some light grey)

I have to admit it's better. It means a serious advancement to the original Amiga GUI system.

It's more modern than the original, yet it's still at a large distance from today. Feel free to disagree though.

There are parts that I love (buttons) but the overall impression is disturbing IMO. It still suggests me that there was no graphic artist present in the initial design phase, and that his hand now is tied...

Just an opinion though. In fact, if they can improve the GUI for 4.1 then it's fairly acceptable as a temporary one.

I love it, pity it's a grey theme, but it's better than Windows blue or XP's silver :-D

Actually, there was.

It's rather obvious that some people will not like it. I'm afraid that GUI's is something that you can start a Jihad with. There are actually people that like MacOS' Aqua or XP's Luna...

As always, you can change the colors :-)

Actually, the gradient stuff is really flexible. While you can specify RGB values for start and end, you can also define Pen numbers, which means that if you e.g. change pen 3 (the light blue) to something else, the whole gradient will adjust. That makes it easier to change appearance quickly.

Also, what is not shown in the shots is that you can impose the gradients onto a texture, that is you could have a gradient covering the metal texture like the one in the background.

Glad they finally got rid of those horrible colour schemes and skins.

But sorry guys, I have to say this - the GUI layout still sucks, new skin or not.

I worked on both A4000 with CSPPC and OS4,
and it looked good!

There are allways unsatisfied people, and that
is normal!
