On the AmigaOS4 website there is a news item stating that they will not be attending CeBit, and that AmigaOS 4 is not ready for show.

Heh, that really was a good laugh. My god.....what a bunch of incompetent idiots.

(BTW the hyperlink points to os.amiga.org....wishfull thinking? :-), the correct link is ofcourse os.amiga.com).

One thing I would like to know is why AmigaInc had to announce it so late? This situation  must have been known  many weeks  ago.  :-?

I have one idea, but I'll let others think  it out first   :-P

I wouldn't say that. I think that Amiga, Inc., Eyetech, and Hyperion are all doing their own thing as spelled out in their agreement. I feel that the problem is that they don't communicate with each other as much as they should to make sure each partner is on the same page. It does make them all look very foolishly niave and inexperiencedly unprofessional.

A bunch of incompetent idiots would have gone ahead with the show and come off looking like baboons. Remember the famous Bill Gates Windows demo at a show. That BSOD made him o' so like a leader of the computer industry.

It would ease the 'pain' if they post some new screenshots of AmigaOS 4.0 *hint* *hint*  :-D  ;-)

I think what JoannaK means is that the booth reservations for the CeBit have been closed weeks ago, so Amiga Inc could have announced that they will not attend this show far before.

This announcement is one of the most sensible things Amiga Inc. did in the last months. Pity that it was so late, and the excuse they give is pretty lame: preparing a good demo does take weeks of work, so they should have known one month ago that they could not make it to CeBIT.

Well, after all it doesn't matter too much, OS4 hasn't been canned  :-D

I find the following part strange:

As can see in Bill's "Letting the World Know" item of 19 nov 2002, he stressed the following part:

....The first of these shows will be the official launch of the AmigaOne and AmigaOS4.0, to occur at the CeBit show in Germany in March (and before anyone asks, this does not mean this is the release date for AmigaOS4.0, it means that CeBit will be the public launch of it). ....


In his statement he made clear, at CeBit everybody would be able to see the new heading of the Amiga OS (public launch), BUT this didn´t mean it was the release date for people to buy OS4.

But now they have as excuse for not attending the CeBit that they are not at a point to ship.  :-?
