PS. I won't be buying a Pegasos, not because although it may well do all as advertised,  I can see no pressing reason to start out again with a new platform.

That's why it runs Amiga 3.x software.

Hello,

"PS. I won't be buying a Pegasos, not because although it may well do all as advertised, I can see no pressing reason to start out again with a new platform."

FYI AmigaOne + AmigaOS 4 will also be a new platform.

Why? Because AmigaOne is a new hardware compared to Classic Amigas and developpers will have to port/create their software using AmigaOS 4 APIs to have them AmigaOS 4 natives.
Of course there is the AmigaOS 3.x compatibility, but MorphOS has it also :)

So in both case, Pegasos/MorphOS or AmigaOne/AmigaOS 4, these are new platforms.

Well......it's better they wait until OS4 is completely ready. After all, when they stand there showing the world some new Amiga stuff, they'll better be there with a product they can trust, and which is ready for shipping.

Maybe speculation, but IMHO they will ship it ASAP when they have something to ship,  regardless if it's stable or not. AmigaONE has been released despite the promise it won't be released until OS4 is ready. They want to grab hold of the land, before all is lost. Simple business.

Speculation regarding it's not released because they want it to be rock solid is pretty unbelieveable to me. Anyway, it will go to earlybird ppl and ppl who trust it without actually seeing it. Like the beta1 at the Genesi side.

Absolutely my opinion, of course

[EDIT]

Yet, despite all said above - the AmigaONE in existance is the only difference compared to 2001 august.

So things are a bit brighter here. Yet, I've got fed up with the current management, and two days before I received my Pegasos. So I spent my yesterday playing around with MorphOS, and it's beautiful. Faster and even more nicer than I thought judging from the shots and reviews, yet it still has small glitches and a few bugs. Hope OS4 will be at least that fine, and then I'll buy that too, for my blizzppc or Pegasos.

Yes I am aware of that, but I look at it in Apple terms. Apple went from 68K to PPC with all the implication that entailed, but  I don't think Apple users saw themselves as changing platform.  I 'm just a simpleton at heart

This is not surprising at all...

But there is one thing I do not understand: for sure, Hyperion knew since a long time OS4 would not be ready for CeBit...

Why having waited so long to finally ADMIT it ?!?
(two or three days ago, "rogue" was still writting: "We have not failed yet"...)

By doing this *they* are causing all these fud messages...

Regards,
Leo.

@Fordon
Might I suggest you stay out of Amiga Inc threads, as you are clearly not interested in Amiga Inc, your only here to Troll and push the product you support, which to me at least comes across as being very lame.

@Hombre

The door to CeBit has been closed weeks if not months ago.

Ben Hermans admitting the still non-functional 68k-emu on
ExecSG only two weeks ago made it 100% cetain that they
won't have a deeply tested sys ready (and why go with any less ?)

So the KNEW it won't happen, just like they KNEW OS4 was not in
it final stages when they sold "I am Yoda" and just like they
KNEW A1/OS4 were not "on schedule and rocking" when they sold
the Party-Pack.

Thats the main prob I got with the_name Inc:
Making mistakes can happen to anyone, but trying to "solve" them
by ignoring them is not a good idea.

But to whom am I talking, when someone on ann.lu allready claimed
the CeBit isn't really important ....  :-x
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

As I have observed Frodon reacted on a post regarding the Pegasos/MorphOS. I think it's just as fair for him to address those posts as it's Rogue's to reply to posts concerning Hyperion or OS4...

Frodon is one of the most amiable members of this site. Amazing even his posts get under people's skin, but then some skins here are pretty darn thin...
