Soft Hut Typhoon cards
« on: May 21, 2009, 02:08:29 PM »
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has received their A1200 Typhoon cards from Softhut or if the know what is happening?  I paid my money and was told several different dates, finally told it would ship last Friday but then nothing, I e-mailed Joe and there has been silence for a week.  I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation, or if there has been a delay with the cards again?  Cheers!

Got my 4060, but still waiting for the Typhoon and SCSI add-on.  Credit card was charged several weeks ago.  I haven't followed up with Joe on this yet.

The last I heard from Joe was last Wednesday, stating there was a delay from GVP. He said at that time they would be shipped Thursday, but I have heard nothing since.

I got this reply today after emailing him, seems like we should expect them to ship this Tuesday :)

"Yes the boards are in final production but rather than build by hand he sent them to a contract manufacturer. They should be delivered to us on Tuesday right after the holiday and we hope to ship all backorders the same day.

Regards,

Joe"

How did you pay?  Did they actually charge your credit or debit card while the boards were still in production?  (That is in violation of merchant credit card account rules.)

I paid with PayPal but as far as I understood it some of the boards had already been manufactured but there was more demand than the amount of boards manufactured.

It appears that this project from Software Hut/GVP was an ambitious task to meet the needs of the classic Amiga community.  My hat is off to them, but I feel that good communication always trumps speculation, especially if money is involved.  Patience is needed, but updates on the progress is also required.

Still no news from Joe at least from my end, was told the cards are meant to arrive last week but no response to emails again .... don`t want to do a chargeback but at the moment no responses it is getting me a bit worried.  Hehe I guess I got spoilt by Amiga Kit.

Joe is a good person and will make good on your purchases, but his Amiga business is only a tiny fraction of what he does, so I have to admit that he isn't always the quickest with communications.  I hope he will respond before anyone's patience runs out.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

I ordered a GVP Spectrum. Still hasn't shipped yet.  But Joe did email me....a delay in production.  But I've never had a problem with Software Hut not delivering.  I am sure we will get our cards...just have to wait a bit longer :)

Where did you get this  from?  If payments were made through  paypal can/would they be still considered  credit card?

Hi All,

I've been dealing with Joe for a long while. Built up my A2000 and bought my A1XEG4 From Him.

Joe will make it happen. Starting short production runs is not easy and may take a while.

I remember having dealt with him in the past and his service was great, I guess I have just become jaded in my old age lol.  Ganbatte Joe!  Looking forward to putting a lovely new Typhoon card in my miggy .... maybe GVP are boosting the card to 50 mhz :)

Did anyone here back from Joe on Thursday or friday confirming shipment? Or did another Week pass and no boards? I did e-mail him requesting a full refund on Saturday (yesterday)  if they were not shipped.but so far no news back.
