If you have an A1000, you already have the "Kickstart RAM board"... it's called the Daughterboard. And necessary for Kickstart, from disk, to be loaded into the 256kb WOM memory that the native Daughterboard provides.
What DJ is talking about requires desoldering(?) and/or removing a pair of chips on the A1000's motherboard and popping in his Kickstart adapter board, which would then accept a 16-bit A500/A2000 Kickstart ROM. Pretty slick piece of kit, which, thanks to this thread; reminded me that I "needed" one of these. LOL!
Edit: I read what DJBase said about the chips being socketed. That would be great if they are. I had thought they weren't on one of my A1000's, but could be mistaken. Will know soon enough :-)
