i was never able to get my A4000 to boot with a compact flash and a CDROM on the internal IDE.  It kept crashing.

I'd be interested in how you configured it to work.

It's because I only have the CF Reader on the internal IDE.  All other devices (the 2 hard drives and CD ROM) are on the Elbox Flyer4000 Zorro card.  Before I added the CF Reader I had terminated the internal IDE slot and didn't even use it (I went through hell when I first bought the A4000 trying to get a hard drive and CD ROM drive working together).  If you have the spare cash then I highly recommend the Elbox card.
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.
